National achievement scholarships...

I saw this thread: http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/national-merit-scholarships/649276-nmf-scholarships-updated-compilation-20.html

And wondered, if there's one for National achievement, or is it non-existant and national achievement is more like a pat on the back?

My previous misplaced post: http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/college-search-selection/909891-so-national-achievement.html

Hi,

Congrats on making National Achievement!

There are schools that give nice big scholarships for NA :)

I was at Bama recently for a performance and the mom next to me was so excited because her D had the full National Achievement scholarship from Bama for her NA status…full tuition, honors housing, laptop, etc. The package is worth over $100k

Plus, since her D is in engineering, she also gets an additional $2500 per year.

National Merit Finalist or National Achievement Finalist

* Value of tuition in-state or out-of-state for 4 years

 • 4 years of on-campus housing (this includes the 4 bedroom honors super suites)
 • $1,000 per year University National Merit/Achievement Scholarship for 4 years
 • One time allowance of $2,000 for use in summer research or international study (after completing one year of study at UA)
 • Laptop computer**

What is your likely major?

Electric Or Mechanical engineering =) thanks for the reply

I found this at Auburn University site:

Checkout University of Central Florida too. I am pretty sure that they offer a package to National Achievement Finalists.

These are awesome. The only critique I have of them is their distance from where I live, and my parents are very…attached…to me. (For lack of a better word)

Forgot to add, that the northeast and mid-west are more plausible locations. Though anything can happen.
