National Achievement!

I'm confused; is there a difference between National Merit and National Acheivement?

Yeah National Acheivement is a smaller competition for African American students who take the PSAT. Similar to National Hispanic i think?

I can now answer my previous question: National Achievement notifications arrived in my DD's school yesterday.

Same here, I just found out I'm a National Achievement Semifinalist and National Merit Commended Scholar today. Apparently my PSAT was 212 and our cutoff for National Merit in FL was 215-216.

I just found out this morning that I was named National Acheivement. Scored 187. This makes me feel better considering I scored 201 sophmore year and the cutoff for NMSF in my state is only 209. Bad Test Day. Oh Well. The letter says it is a regional based competition with like top 1% in the nation. I am so relived that one bad day didnt screw me over any more.

Anyone know any really good schools that give good money for this?

warped and march, Congratulations! Many of the HBUCs provide scholarships to National Achievement Finalists. A quick Google search indicates that UT-Austin, UMass-Amherst, University of Alabama, Arizona State University, University of Iowa, and the University of Arizona provide nice scholarships to finalists as well.

Thanks. I'm still a little ****ed off that my writing score screwed me out of National Merit Semi though, I had an 80M, 72CR, and 60W. But I thought that the colleges that offer National Merit money also offer the same for National Achievement because it's part of the NMSC. =0.

Any news on what VA's cutoff for Nat'l Achievement Semifinalist will be? I scored a 195 so I know National Merit is out.

What does it take to become a National Hispanic Scholar?
I realize that PSAT scores are the first cut, but what is the minimum GPA required for National Hispanic Scholar? If the PSAT score is very high, but the GPA is a little over a 3.0 will a student still be considered?

When does a student find out if he/she has been named National Hispanic Scholar?

Is it possible to become a National Achievement semi finalist with only a 182?

I would think it's possible but not likely. The average cutoff seems to be around 190.

By the way, does anyone know the average cutoff for Finalist?

Question...

let's say UCF gives National Merit finalists a full ride.

is it likely they do the same if you're National Achievement? It's the same program.

bump

just found out i made it with a 196

are you sure it's just commended?

I scored a 198 and have yet to be notified. I live in Kansas. Should I be worried?

lgriffin - Kansas's score mentioned here is 213.
