Does anyone know whether USC will offer a Presidential Scholarship to National Achievment Finalists similar to their practice of offering a Presidential to National Merit Finalists?

I think you should call the school directly and ask them

Once we hear whether he has been admitted we will. We’re sort of loathe to draw attention to his application or sound like we’re whining when we’re not sure whether he’s in or not.

I’m not familiar with National Achievement awards (can you explain?), but it sounds wonderful. I would suggest you have your son email his admissions rep with the update that he has received this award. Can’t hurt, and might just make his app shine brighter.

National Achievment recognizes outstanding African American students. There are similar competitions for Hispanic Students as well.

USC receives tens of thousands of applications. I seriously doubt that any phone call you anonymously make to them to inquire about their merit awards to National Achievement students would be traced to your child’s application.
