National Buckeye Scholarship

S17 also received the National Buckeye and Provost yesterday via snail mail. He is OOS (CO) with a 4.0 w GPA and a 32 ACT. Grateful as this makes tOSU in budget.

My daughter just received her National Buckeye and merit scholarship award letter yesterday, so check the mail if you are OOS (especially further away from OH) - award letters will probably arrive by the end of the week.

I was awarded Provost Scholarship ($10,000) and National Buckeye Scholarship ($50,000).

I am a Georgia resident (OOS).

Got accepted early admission for computer science and engineering. Recieved this scholarship letter Feb 10th.

Some info if you are intrested:

ACT: 34C 34E 30M 34R 36S
6 AP classes taken.
GPA: 4.0W/3.9UW

This scholarship really lifted my spirits after getting a denial from Georgia Tech admissions…

My son’s stats were 34 ACT, 4.4W/3.9UW. 4 APs completed, 6 APs this year. Looks like that’s similar range to others getting National Buckeye and Provost.

@davidk8585 We are in Georgia and my daughter received the same - Provost and National Buckeye. Are you going to the Atlanta dinner next week for accepted students?

Has anyone gotten a call saying their S or D received the Distinction Scholarship? We are waiting to hear back about that and were told it would be around mid to late February.

Has anyone from MA received notice on Nat’l Buckeye or other merit??

Finally heard today! Son got Trustees & National Buckeye scholarships!! We are beyond excited - Go Bucks!

D just got hers too! Trustees and National Buckeye

I called today because we haven’t received the letter. They said my son’s letter was sent last Friday. He qualified for NBS and Trustee, but only got NBS. That’s okay. We are still happy with that!

Congrats! Can share with us your state and stats?? Still waiting here in NJ!!

OOS(PA), 4.1 WGPA, 30 ACT
Good luck to all still waiting!

We are in Wisconsin. My son had a 29 ACT, 3.96 UW GPA, class rank of 7%. If you haven’t heard I would suggest calling. They were super nice when I called.

Thanks! Just got the mail and my son got the Buckeye - he’s thrilled! Congrats to all - this year was so competitive, we are thankful to have received this scholarship! He’s a DA to Fisher which is a great business program - so happy that all of his hard work in HS is paying off

@Rosie2017 My son is the same! DA to Fisher! We are on our way to Columbus now to go to an Admitted Student Day at Fisher on Monday. Looking forward to hearing more about the program.

@drjdillon Let me know how your trip goes! We haven’t made it to the Admitted Student Day yet. We did a tour of the campus, but all of the programs for that day were booked. On the same trip, we also went to Indiana for the DA Day for Kelley - it was very impressive - but they don’t give anywhere near the amount of scholarship $$ that we got from OSU! Very difficult decisions - would love to hear your feedback on the Fisher program. Thanks!

@Rosie2017 @drjdillon I would also love to hear your impressions. We went for a Fisher tour and overview a couple weeks ago and we thought it was impressive. My D is also a DA to Fisher, but also to Kelley and WI school of Business which also seem to be amazing. We are OOS for all of them and are trying to determine if anything would justify choosing one of the others. IU is still significantly more even with their scholarships and U of WI gives nothing at all.

@Rosie2017 @pop424 I will update you both after Monday! My son also applied to Wisconsin and got admitted. He didn’t send in his direct admit essay until last week right before it was due, so he hasn’t heard back on that yet. Wisconsin has only let 10% of their freshmen in to the business school in the past, but suddenly has decided to significantly increase that number. No clue why the change. We live in Wisconsin so it would be in state, but the NBS at least makes OSU in the ballpark. He stalled on his Wisconsin direct admit essay because he really wants to go to OSU. Honestly I was hoping Wisconsin just because it is home, but I have been impressed with OSU so far. Wisconsin has taken some grief over not giving merit at all. They may eventually reconsider their ways. We shall see. Also Wisconsin’s governor is talking about decreasing tuition, but that won’t be for out of state kids probably. So we would save money sending him to Wisconsin. But I also feel like he has worked hard and should go where he wants to. Both great colleges, but really a different feel. OSU definitely has a distinct campus, where Wisconsin’s is intertwined with the city of Madison. OSU requires you to live in the dorms 2 years, where Wisconsin doesn’t require it at all. Wisconsin also doesn’t have a meal plan. Really different. Anyway, I will give you my impressions after Monday!

@Rosie2017 @pop424 Well we are on our way back to Wisconsin after our day at Ohio State on Monday. We had the unfortunate timing to be there when a student fell/jumped from the Union South parking garage. I guess some of the people on our Residence Hall tour saw it happen. By then we were across campus at Fisher. How awful. Anyway, we were very impressed with Fisher. The thing that stood out to me the most was the internship opportunities. It seems there are so many different directions the kids can go. They had current students from different years and a professor speak to us. It was very helpful to learn more from their experiences. They also gave us a sample of what a schedule looks like to get through 4 years with a business degree. They explained the different specializations(which some schools consider the major). My son is still in the running for Business Scholars and we had the chance to talk to a student in that program. We also talked to a student in the Global Business Learning Community, which was good to hear about. That might be an option if he doesn’t get into the Business Scholars. Overall I liked the proximity of the business college buildings to each other. I also thought it sounded like they support the kids well. It was great to hear that companies actually come to the college to interview for internships and jobs. I’m sure other colleges do that, but I didn’t know about it really. Anything else you guys have questions about that we might have learned?

How awful. Sorry that you had to experience that @drjdillon
