My son has a 3.55 and a 30 on ACT but his high school does not do class rank. Would he be eligible for NBS?
@NJhockeydad Good ACT score. I think he would be eligible based on that ACT score alone. Not having a class rank could help in this circumstance. But your son’s guidance counselor should be able to provide you with a better estimate as to whether your son’s gpa would qualify him for the National Buckeye Scholarship (NBS), based on past years experience with other students from your son’s high school who applied to OSU and who received the NBS. Also, Ohio State has an admissions representative for NJ. You may want to reach out to him or her and ask this question. Your son’s guidance counselor should know the name of the admissions rep. The admissions rep. is usually very familiar with the high schools in his or her territory and should be able to inform you if your son’s gpa in his high school would qualify for the NBS. The NBS, coupled with one of the other smaller scholarships (trustee, provost, maximus) helps a lot with the cost of attending OSU from OOS.
Thank you. Good suggestions.
My son is a freshman at Ohio State. We are out of state and our school does not rank. He was awarded the National Buckeye plus the trustees. As long as he applied by the Nov 1 deadline he is eligible and should receive the National Buckeye scholarship.
Yes, he applied in Sept. Thanks.
My son was admitted yesterday. Do you know when OSU sends out National Buckeye notifications?
My son was admitted just before Christmas last year. I believe he got the letter for National Buckeye late January.
