Does anyone know what the cut-off scores for the National Hispanic Recognition program are, or have been in the past? Is there a process similar to National merit people have to go through?
-Thanks

Several people at my school got the recognition with mid to high 180s. I'm not sure of the process but they received certificates from our school board so I know they got something from it.

ok thanks, i got a 205 so thats definently enough.
do colleges offer scholarships for it?

I do not recall specifics, but it is usually quite a bit lower than National Merit qualification, and, conversely, a lot more valuable in many cases.

Quite a few colleges offer scholarships for Hispanic recognition. I know that Arizona State University gives the same scholarship to any National Merit, Hispanic, or Achievement scholars. Some schools give half of the NM scholarship, some give the same. It all depends. With a 205 you'll most likely get a National Merit Commended also.

cut off for virginia is 193 for 2007/2008

bumping, I'm curious as well.

Yeah, I'm confused about this. My guidance counselor just told me to sign something a couple of months ago, and I think it's this, but I don't really know. She said I had to sign in order to get my name published in the thing? I wasn't really listening because I thought it was just another random survey thing they do... If it helps, I'm in NY, hispanic, and I think I got a 197.

The cut off varies by state, just like the cut off for National Merit. In my daughter's Maryland HS the nominees this year have scores of 196 and up.

sarmango, i signed that also and wasn't sure what it meant

so wat is it for cali?

i got a 193....but that was sophomore year. im gonna take it again. hopefully i do better this time

I got a 196 and got it. I live in Cali.

What exactly does this award do? Is it useful for admissions, or for scholarship purposes? My counselor explained it horribly.
