National Latin Exam 2007

Who's taking it this year?

This'll be my first year, as I'm taking Latin I. We've been practicing recently in our Latin class with the old exams and some extra history stuff.

How is everyone else preparing for it?

I've never heard of it, but that's probably because Latin isn't offered at our school. Do you know if there's a Spanish, Sign Language, Japanese, or Korean equivalent?

yeah, theres a National Spanish Exam...at my school you usually take it in Spanish 3

Yup yup.... I'm in JCL for grammar and Roman history. I seem to be doing pretty well on the practice exams.

i dont know of anyone who has ever prepped for a national language exam. ever. i took nat latin last year and dropped one question out of 50. it was ill

I'm not sure if this is true for the lower level tests, but when I was taking it a few years ago, there was always a question somehow involving Pliny the younger somewhere on the exam.

OMG! I heart the NLE! you just reminded me-I'm looking up the date to take it now.

Last year, we had no prep at all, but in my other school, we prepped basically christmas on with old dittos, quiz games, etc. The NLE isn't a big deal for Latin I-it's really repetitive, and if you know all the stuff on the old exams and the basic grasp, you're okay.

It seems ok, I'm doing Latin 5-6 exam this year.

i quit latin because my teacher looked like shrek, had yellow teeth, wore weird clothes, and spit when she talked.
oh yea and she related EVERYTHING to religion [i go to a private nonaffiliated prep school, so yea. ew.]

i always got gold medals before that though, it's pretty easy...

the NLE is easy, dont stress

Woohoo, took the NLE today- Latin I. I missed at least one question, though, so :p

I should've taken Latin! Spanish sucked, but I was pretty good at it, especially in Spanish 3.....didn't know there was a national exam for it.

Yeh, Latin's soooo much cooler than Spanish.

omigodimsuchanerd. :D

I'm taking the exam this Thursday, March 15th (lol, the Ides of March). So yeah, it looks rather easy now that we've gone over the things we needed to go over (we were a little behind).

I was in 7th grade when I chose Spanish 1.

Too bad I didn't know then what I know now, or else I would've picked Latin. :D

I took the Latin I today, and it was insanely easy. My teacher only found out yesterday that we had to take it because my principal failed to tell her sooner. If I get 2 wrong, can I still get a gold medal, or what about 4 wrong, because my friend is dying to get a medal but she thinks she got four wrong at most.

Me too. At the most I got 4 wrong, at least 1. My teacher said something along those lines.

um, well it's usually based off the average-not the same number wrong each year. 2 wrong-you'll definitely get either a silver or gold...probably gold. 4 wrong-most definitely getting the bronze medal. My friend got like 25/40 last year and got bronze

Took the French 3 today -- messed up on a few of the listening questions and possibly one or two grammar. It really sucked because I had to take the AIME today too, so they stuck me in the room with the Level 2 and Level 4 kids. Meaning I ended up being really scared they wouldn't have enough time to give me the listening test. It worked out pretty well though. Except for the AIME, which I completely bombed.

Yeah, I took Latin III prose today but did not feel confident in my test-taking at all. I completely lost it during the reading comp, and pretty much chose random answers for the culture/history questions.

It's not going to look too good considering I did fairly well on the last NLE, enough to get a pre-emptive invitation to some Latin summer program. Thanks, but no thanks.

Latin students are cool.
