Since I'm not taking Latin this year I didn't have the chance to take the NLE. But I've taken all the tests from Latin I-IV (and got a sweet dictionary for getting 4 golds), so I'm wondering how everyone fared this year.

I took Latin II Exam yesterday. I think I missed one but I'm not sure.
Collegehopeful, can you get a dictionary for getting gold medals? I thought it was only for a perfect paper...

lol, i fogot what the "nones" were :D

"Nones" are 3rd or 5th of a month, I think?

Lakers08- If you get a gold medal for 4 years straight you receive a dictionary. It does not necessarily have to be a perfect paper.

I'm taking it tomorrow. Latin III/IV...the one thing I haven't had much of in my latin is culture and daily life. Calenders...suck. Their whole a.d. VII Kalend. November is baffling. I'm pretty much okay with the language, though.

I never learned the calendar, but the nones are the 5th or the 7th. I learned this later.

I'm taking the Latin 1 exam tomorrow. It seems easy enough. Personally I prefer French though.

the nones are the 5th except for May July march and November, which have nones on the 7th.

yea i'm taking them tomorrow. How was the latin 4 test?

I got an 80 on mine. Is that bad?

80? If that's a percentage, I'd think you'd be in the silver range, definitely. Even my teacher wasn't familiar with the calendar that much (she learned it and forgot it promptly because it was baffling and made no sense). Yeah, so the period before the test I was practicing all sorts of dates, and there ended up only being one question on the dates, and a simple one at that. I was rather upset at that.

Latin III/IV prose wasn't that bad. The translation wasn't nearly as fun as the one on the practice exam from 1992 or 1993 - one of those years - "Milo and the Oak Tree." That was a fun translation.

80% Yeah and Zoogie its me Phantom

I didn't do well on mine as I had hoped, since I never learned the calendar or the use of "gratia" with the genitive.

can we post answers now?

How do you get a dictionary....is it possible if you take only two years of Latin?

You take it according to level. As for the dictionary thing check Barnes and Noble. Mine cost like $7 for a pocket sized one.
