National Merit Finalist Info

I have a friend who just made the cutoff for the national merit semifinalist (TX). He got a 220 on his PSAT. But one of the requirements to become finalist is to do well on the SAT. however, he got a 1990 on his SAT. i don't know if he's taking it again. will he be denied finalist status?

Might be. I heard the cut-off used to be 1300, so maybe it's 1950 now? What were his M/V/W breakdowns?

580 V 680 M 750 W

bump

.

That might raise a qeustino in the midn of the National Merit folk as to how his score dropped so drastically.

I guess if everyone's getting these now that means 213 wasn't high enough to get past commended...oh well

213 might be high enough for you. The cutoff scores vary from state to state.
