National Merit Finalist Scholarship

So I was accepted to NEU today and I'm really excited! I may be a national merit finalist, and on northeastern's website it says they give $30,000 for nmf's. I was just wondering if that was $30,000 a year or total ($7,500 a year). Thanks!

Also can that scholarship stack with the one I got on acceptance?

The scholarship is 30k per year/15k per semester after the first year, and it would replace scholarships like the Dean’s scholarship from what I understand.

NMF scholarship won’t stack; it’ll just replace the one they gave you in your acceptance letter. Also the NMF scholarship won’t be finalized until the finalist results come out and you declare NEU as your first choice school. There are some other caveats to the scholarship as well including a GPA and community service requirement.

Side note: I think the community service requirment is pretty great. It helps you get involved in the community a lot.

Is GPa requirement before you are awarded the scholarship or after you are a Northeastern student?

Once you have the scholarship, you have to keep a certain GPA to maintain it. It’s somewhere from 3.3-3.5, I think.

It’s a 3.0 to maintain. Are you aware that Drexel University (very similar to Northeastern) gives FULL TUITION if you are a National Merit Finalist, even if you choose the 5 year/3 coop program.
