National Merit Scholarship and Financial Aid

My financial aid was recently updated, and it said I got a $1000 National Merit College Sponsored Scholarship. I'm guessing this is a separate one from half-tuition Presidential scholarship for National Merit Finalists?
Anyone know if this $1000 one is renewable for all four years?

Also, does anyone know how outside scholarships factor in? Do they start replacing grants then loans?

Thanks in advance! : )

Yes, the NM scholarship + presidential scholarship of 1/2 tuition are both renewable for all 4 years provided you keep a 3.0 average & make satisfactory progress toward your degree. I'd suggest you contact FAid about how they apply outside scholarships.

My roommate and I both got the $1,000 in addition to the NM Scholarship...we don't know why, but we're not complaining! I think mine has been renewed for sophomore year automatically, so I assume it'll be all four years.

Can we apply for Trustee Scholarship for sophomore year? I didn't apply during my admission to Freshman class, so I am wondering if there is still a chance....

Unfortunately, no. The way to apply for the Trustee Scholarship is to apply by the scholarship deadline, when you are actually applying to USC. However, there are continuing student scholarship that you might be applicable for.
