hey sorry if this post is a bit redundant but im trying to get my application out to rutgers pharm(rolling admission) by next week and i was just wondering if it was safe to put commendable for the national merit scholarship on the application if i got a total score of 212 (73 math, 62 CR, 77 WR). when do they tell you if you qualified for any awards?

You should have been notified by last year.

But as a side note, the commended cut off is 200- you've definitely made it.
Check with your school though before you put it down.

Generally you only qualify for awards if you make finalist, however, unless they're private awards.

well in like spring of last year i got this college referral service thing that allowed me to refer my score or w/e to 2 schools. is that what you are talking about? if it is, what does it officially count as?

Yes, the spring notification is for both commended and semis. Now they are notifying the semis only. So, you can be assured of being at least commended and will need to find out if 212 is good enought to qualify for semi in your state this year.

Well, exactly what entomom said- you made commended, so go ahead and put that down.
Since you haven't been notified yet, you probably didn't make semi-finalist (especially because you're (most likely) from NJ where the cutoff is always much higher than 212). Those that are commended are "officially" notified towards the end of September.

You guys should look at : OFFICIAL National Merit Semifinalist Cutoff Scores 2007 . That thread has the breaking news on results. Wzzz is posting state by state as the data comes in

Commended students will be officially notified of that status in late September/early October.

hikids- I know that thread, I've posted on it.
However, last time I checked, NJ wasn't updated/on the list yet.

Edit: NJ is on there now, but it's still only at the less than or equal to stage. (222)
