National Merit Semifinalist SAT Confirmation

A theoretical question this time…

On my October PSAT, I scored a 1460 (730E/730M, NMSC 219). Obviously, in years past this wouldn’t make the cut for National Merit in the most competitive states (incl. VA, where I live), but at least one source shows that because this year’s test was tougher, I might be close, very close: https://prepexpert.com/national-merit-psat-cutoff-scores-class-2018/ (VA estimated cutoff: 1460/220)
I took the SAT once in March, and got a 1490 (720E/770M); if I get NMS (which is very unlikely), would that score qualify for Finalist eligibility? Thanks! (I just want to know if I need to worry about prepping to retake the SAT over the summer.)

The PSAT this year is thought to be easier and the cutoff is believed to be higher than last year. Anyway, 1490 should be enough for the verification.

@billcsho

If the cutoff is higher like you say, that means @some1fromVA wouldn’t even make the PSAT cut so SAT doesn’t even matter (since he got a 1460 on the PSAT).

@RMNiMiTz Yes, I know that and OP is aware of that too. He just want to know if 1490 to be sufficient fot verification if one made the cutoff for NMSF.

@billcsho

Yep, I know, I was just pointing it out. But yes, 1490 should be good enough for the SAT part.
