native with <740 on chinese?

ive never gotten below an A-in a chinese class and i took the AP test last year and i got a 5
thing is i'm also a native but im sooo bad at chinese and im pretty sure im goign to FAIL this saturday's test considering the curve is ridiculous (unlike the AP test, which is probably why I got a 5) soo should i take it or not?

my other SAT II scores are failure though and I just have no idea what to do

there's still time to practice!

don't take if you aren't going to do well. Anyways, I've heard that colleges don't like if you take your native language.

yeah but sholdnt i take it bc it COUDL be my best score (lol how sad)
...or is that just pathetic b/c 1, i scored so low on something i should have gotten an 800 on, and 2, it shows yet another SAT II i can fail.

dont take it. end of story.

dude i have the same problem. i keep getting less than 750. i would take it, see how well you do. nothing to lose right?

so you guys are saying that no one should take it? then does that mean all my 8 years of going to chinese school are in vain? ***

The test is in Mandarin. I am Cantonese. I am still taking it though...does this make me a native?

does anyone know if you get points off for omitting questions for chinese w/listening or is it just scored like a regular subject test?

^scored like a regular subject test.

so for the listening section, it's still better to leave blank then guess

better to leave blank then guess, right?

bump bump bump...

do we bring a CD player for Chinese or a tape player?

I got 710 last November. Although I'm Chinese but I suck at the language.
I can't read to save my life...I guess that was where I went wrong. All I do in school for chinese is memorize & not actually know how to read the words. that's how I still get 80s for my exams haha.

xfiona, do you remember about how many you got wrong (that you definitely know you got wrong or weren't too sure if you got it right) to get the 710?

Sorry, I don't. I didn't even count because I was really slow, haha, so I was racing against time.

wait...so they have the chinese sat ii questions in 4 formats (simplified, traditional, pinyin, phonetics)...but they only do the cd in mando? lmao

Um, all four of the formats correspond to Mandarin. I don't think it's very possible to include the hundreds of dialects of Chinese.
