My mid now feels like it's official -- a Navy Midshipmen. Marching to the stadium and enjoying the game was "way cool" -- and they won!

And 176 pushups to remember.

I have attempted all possible permeations and cannot come up with any logical multiples totaling 176. In my day we did '69' every time Navy scored. We also had a very poor football team.

The Plebes do pushups equal to Navy's total points after every Navy score. If you add 7, 14, and so forth up to 41, it totals 176.

USNA69

Don't know when it changed. Probably when a math major figured out that the Class of 2000 would have to do no pushups or fourteen thousand using Saturday's score!!

69 ...we need to get you a hobby, girl friend, or a new puppy. Maybe all 3?

Actually, it is supposed to go: 6, 7, 13, 14, 20, 21, 24, 30, 31, 37, 38, 41 which ends up being 282 push-ups. They are supposed to do do push ups after every score, which means for the TD and then followed by the extra point.

I didn't think extra points counted as a new score and required new pushups. Thought it was only touchdowns with extra point and field goals??? Possible, but might be pushing it as extra points might be considered a given with the new kickers!!! Safety would count and add two. Would like to see defense get a couple of those. If they have to do another set after the extra point more power to them. They seem to love it. I think my Mid mentioned the Two Hundred Plus score but I couldn't figure that one out. Thanks for the update.

AF6872 you are obviously a new navy FB fan. You will soon learn that nothing in Navy FB is ever a given

Anyone going to the Duke game?

Only problem is all their 'appreciation' was Army at the last Duke/Navy Military Appreciation Day. Blackhawk flyover and Golden Knight ball jump. I supposed they figured F-18s would have over excited the Navy team. Just pick up the tickets on game day at the stadium main ticket booth. They never are anywhere near a sell out. Navy will have twice as many fans there as Duke.

grad/dad

I remember watching Joe Bellino #27. No one could stop him or catch him. It was all in black & white on a small screen.

Oh! By the way that was before Roger Staubach.

USNA69 - Duke football game........We are planning on being there! It is going to be a great experience for him to watch the Plebes in hopes that it will be him next year. Our son just got an LOA, but we have to get over a snag with medical....... hope to see clear skies on this soon! Waiting on the Doc at the Academy for the waiver. It was finished at DoDMERB on Aug. 7 so hopefully any day now.

Don't be disappointed if you don't see a large contingent of Midshipmen on Saturday. If this year is like last year, not many are allowed to travel to away games. However this is 2008 and the rules may have changed.

Congratulations to your son!

It's only a little over four hours down the interstate. Don't most 2nd class and firsties have cars? And can they not take weekends?

500 Mids will be going to Ball State for the game on Friday

The bus leaves the Mid Store parking lot at 4:30 Fri. morning with options of a return either Sat. morning or Sun. morning. Besides having the weekend be uncharged, an extra weekend will be granted for those who go.

Both Duke and WF will be MO's for 340 mids.

I believe the MO for the upcoming games are a tad more this year- thanks to games being on a Saturday, and later in the afternoon, allowing time for Mids to get to the game.

Re: pushups-
from my seat, the plebes did pushups for the current score- AFTER the one point was scored- they may be motivated, but they are not stupid! And in the heat and humidity in that stadium last week, you can bet they wished Towson's defense was just a tad better! (just a tad!) ;)

One of my slides during the OPS brief was that Navy defeated Towson...Captain was happy!

I hope we will be back for Army/Navy.

The Navy/Ball State football game is on live on ESPN now (started 7pm EST)

AF6782: The name Bill Busick ring a bell?
