Navy @ USA Olympic Swim Trials

Who is the plebe-to-be that is trying to win a spot on the USA Olympic Swim Team this week in Omaha ?

Whomever it is, I wish them the best of luck.

that story should at least make ESPN.

If I'm interpreting this article correctly, his name is Mark Meyer.
County swimmers set to undergo Olympic Trials

a little off topic, but do you think they'll let us watch the opening ceremony? it's the friday of PPW...

I think his brother is a 2/c and has also qualified.

hersheybear04,

No.

^^ PlebeMom I agree, I interpreted the article the same way you did. Best of luck to both of them!!!

I understand he'll be present for I-day oath, then whisked back that evening to Omaha for the trials........good luck and swim your fastest MIDN Meyer !

His brother will swim on the 1st & 3rd. The trials will be delay telecast on USA or NBC. The schedules for all Navy swimmers are here.

Just so you all know....... There are FEMALE MIDS swimming at trials too!

I don't think anyone ever questioned whether there were female mids qualifying, nor did anyone assume that it was an all-male event.

^^^^^^Yep, exactly as the linked article stated. Some people have issues about which we cannot understand.

ALL Navy swimmers means ALL NAVY SWIMMERS. What don't some of you get. Regardless of gender they are all Navy.

Team as of 07/05

2/c Thuy Mi Dinh swam at the trials, too, in the 50 free. She's a good friend of mine. She dominates the Patriot League in the sprints.

USNA has been well represented. For the women, Thuy Mi Dinh (as mentioned) and Mallory Dietrich competed. For the men: Joe Smutz '06, and Adam Meyer. Brand new plebes Mark Meyer and Charlie Hetzel swam. Mark swam on Tuesday and reported a day late for plebe summer. Charlie reported for I day and left that night to compete on Friday. I believe he returned to the Academy on Saturday. Of note, Adam Meyer swam VERY well and just missed making the semi-finals. Go Navy!
