Does anyone have any details about what happens? Does everyone just show up without appointments? If so, it sounds like it might be chaos. I saw on one post that people meet in groups with an advisor but that doesn't make sense to me. It doesn't seem like much help if they just show me the course list. Any advise would be helpful. Thanks.

Not sure if it is all run the same way, but for RBS advising, my son went and they explain stuff to your group, then they give you a blue Course Request Form (I kept it: came in handy later!). They tell you to pick a 1st choice and alternate for Math, Natural Sciences, Social Sciences, Humanities, etc. Depending on your program, there are certain things you have to take.

You will also request Byrne Seminars and First Year Interest Groups, if you want to.They will also ask you for AP exams/scores (I think). You submit your requests, then your advisor makes your first semester schedule.

He did this 2 years ago so I don’t really remember everything he did. I don’t remember him saying it was chaotic or anything like that.

Yes, you meet in a classroom with an academic advisor and a number of students who are trained to help you. You aren’t selecting a schedule (what times, which professors) but you are selecting the courses you are interested in taking. The deans will then create a schedule for you and send it to you mid/late August. But these aren’t set in stone, you will have the opportunity to rearrange your schedule when you get to campus (using our online course registration site: WebReg). If you are entering the School of Arts and Sciences then this is the booklet you will be presented with at APA day: http://sasundergrad.rutgers.edu/images/firstyear/booklet2016.pdf If you look over it in advance then your scheduling process will go a lot smoother. The academic advisor will be able to answer all of your questions, making one on one appointments for scheduling first year semesters unnecessary.

Is there a booklet online now for SEBS?

Again, any online booklet for SEBS?

Is this what you want? http://undergraduate.rutgers.edu/sites/default/files/pdf/undergraduate/scarlet-guide-school-of-environmental-and-biological-sciences-first-year-12.pdf

No but thanks. I was looking for the SEB booklet for APA day similar to the booklet that DanicaRU posted for SAS. It might not even be available yet since advising day is May 19th.

@Troy12

this is the booklet you’re looking for SEBS APA info is on page 3, 4, or 5, i forget, but its there.

http://undergraduate.rutgers.edu/sites/default/files/pdf/undergraduate/scarlet-guide-school-of-environmental-and-biological-sciences-first-year-12.pdf

I went to APA day on May 5th for SAS and let me tell you this much…its boring!

You come in at around 9 am, sit in a gym with like 500 kids and your parents sit atop in upper seats. You listen to the band play, then a bunch of speeches. Then you all migrate down elsewhere, a giant migration of students and everyone claps for you. Then you listen to people talk more…then break off into your groups, depending on what majors your interested in. Then at 1:30 you begin to choose your courses. Its a drag!

Again, this is not the booklet I am looking for. Please open up the link above listed under danicaRU. That is what I am looking for but for SEBS.

I think that is the booklet that you want. It is the only one listed for SEBS. It has core requirements for SEBS listed on page 11. What specific information are you looking for?

I couldn’t find the exact SEBS equivalent of the SAS PDF I posted. Most likely, it is not available online. Use the resources posted by rualum… it’s very helpful and contains all the info you will need prior to your advising day.
