Course advising/selection

Can anyone provide information on incoming freshmen course selections. I know there's a day when couses are selected and freshmen meet with an advisor. For an A&S honors student, is there a different process? Also, what is the usual/expected course list for A&S honors students who are undecided on a major? Same question for an honors English major. Thanks

This may be changed, but for Rutgers College, they always used to have a day in April (or May??) where you would come for academic orientation and choose courses. Really, you just take what sounds interesting usually... espescially if you're undecided. liberal arts majors don't have that many credits, so you have a lot of flexibility. you have to take expos first semester if you dont have ap english credit.

email honors@sas.rutgers.edu if you have more questions... again, i dont know how things are changing from last year.

I know that the general Academic Advising days are May 5, 6, and 12, but I don't know if that's the same for honors students. As far as being undecided, try to take classes that you interest you maybe in majors you were considering. (It's okay for you do that because you have a list of core requirements to fulfill and some of those classes will surely be able to fulfill some.)

It is hard to know what courses to take going into the selection day, and the list they give you is a bit incomplete. However, the deans in charge of Freshmen scheduling are very receptive and willing to work with you after the fact. As I got a little more familiar with which classes I wanted to take, I sent them an e-mail, and they adjusted my schedule accordingly. Also, you can do it manually in the add/drop period as school starts.
