I just found out that I was accepted to attend Governors School East over the summer at Meredith College in Raleigh, NC. I also applied to out of state summer college and I was wondering which would help me be more competitive for college. I’m sorry, I know my grammar is horrible but I’m currently writing from my iPhone.
The colleges I plan to apply to are mostly in state (NCSU, UNC, ECU, ASU, and UNCC). The only OOS I plan on applying to is the University of South Carolina at Columbia.
Congrats! I would think that the Gov School would be best since you are mostly looking instate. Even USC will familiar with the prestige.
Just out of curiosity, what part of the state are you in? My daughter heard nothing today, but our mail is notoriously slow.
I am from the southernmost part of NC. I live two minutes from the South Carolina state line (hence the fervent interest in USC). I would suggest contacting the county superintendent if you don’t hear back from NCGS soon, since they do have a list of the accepted students. Good luck to your daughter!
Thanks! I know letters weren’t mailed until Friday and our district waits until students receive those. You have some great college choices. Best of luck!
