DD has been deferred.
She ended up with 2 Bs in the fall sem – AP Bio and Pre-calc. So, not looking good.
I looked through the Common Dataset again. Unlike UNC, class rank is very important. So those that got deferred, maybe rank was not good enough?
Congrats to all that got in, those that were deferred, good luck!
I’ll post my twin DD’s stats as well… they both were accepted into Engineering from OOS!
4.80-4.82 Wtd GPA
33-34 ACT
One National Merit Commended Scholar
9-10 APs and 6 college classes for each one
3-4 year varsity sports each
Key Club, SADD, etc.
(i don’t even know my own kids stats… they managed all their applications and everything. I think these are close! )
This is really thinking ahead, but what to folks have to say about dorms on campus? The good, the bad, and the ugly.
I asked on reddit the other day and saw a lot of people say Wood and Bragaw were some of the bests. The tri-towers were mentioned some too.
Thanks! Link the the reddit?
Probably worth a separate thread for this outside of the admissions topic. Curious here too, but there are so many factors: suite vs. hall, want to join a learning community, high-rise vs low-rise, location, etc.
Has anyone started a new thread for post-admission? I’m new to the platform.
I just did for freshman dorms
Link? Thanks!
My friend called admissions today and they told her that this year was their most competitive year yet.
competitive in the sense that there were more applicants ?
Idk she didn’t say. If I had to guess it would be a mixture of more applicants, test-optional, pass-fail, and students that got accepted last year possibly taking gap years.
Folks - Congrats to those who were accepted! Since EA is over and there are other topics coming into play, I created a new forum thread for those who have been deferred for RD last week since my son was amongst the deferred.
For others who were also deferred, please join here if interested:
Guys I asked the admissions if they would revoke my offer if I received around two points lower than my IB predicted which is 39/45 then they said “we will only look at your final grade so finish the semester strong”. Does that mean they only care about my final report in the school excluding the IB exams that I will do. If so I can just not do the IB exams and save money. What are your thoughts, any opinion would be appreciated
You will not get your score for IB until well after you would have already accepted admission. A reason to take your exams would be to get credit for classes. Check to see what classes qualify- it could save you more money in tuition.
@futurepack i agree esp since the essays are confidential. Now if we can all subjectively vote on them…
@twinmomcu1997 do you have the link to that blog post?
Does anyone know if your regular application gets reviewed along with the scholarship application. I want to reuse an essay that I used for my reg app and just add more to it bc the topic is super similar.
