I hope this isn’t too early, but since today is the deadline, anyone else apply to NC State’s College of Design for next year? And anyone willing to share their portfolios would be welcome! I’m really anxious about the interview process-- I’m applying to Art+ Design and was informed yesterday at Open House that only ~30 people in my field are accepted. Anyone else with similar feelings?
I applied to the Graphic Design program! I heard that around 20 students get into that program:/ Super anxious. NCSU is definitely my #1.
Those numbers are about right. In the Winter about 300 will get invited back to Admissions Review Day. If you get invited to it…know you are in the University they just don’t quite know if you made it to the College of Design yet. At that time, you will be told that they have extended acceptances to quite a few people. You need not to lose focus. Most of those people don’t end up coming to NCSU and then the Admissions Review Day Pool will be where they look to fill the slots. Don’t get disappointed and give up. It’s an awesome College to get into and as a parent they are doing great things with my child who is a student. Stay focused and be patient. No deposits on other schools until you absolutely have to. Some acceptances come as late as April and May. BTW…Tamika is just one awesome person.
Agreed, Tamika is awesome & totally chill. She’d be the first to tell you to “relax & just breathe!”
ANy word on when Admission Review sessions will be scheduled?
Letters go out in January.
Letters go out in January about an event that is to occur on an as yet unannounced day in mid January? That seems like its cutting things a bit close.
@PhilipM In the past, there was notification online at the end of December. The portfolio interview/Admissions Review session was near mid-end of January and final notification was at the end of February-beg. March. Yes, it is all very close and your nerves will be on edge. While this was happening friends in other majors were already choosing roommates. It was also overlapping with housing selection and honors applications. Scholarship information doesn’t hit until April/May/June. It is a crazy rollercoaster so hold tight.
@PhilipM Another bit of info: Academic advising is also different for CoD versus another major like engineering. Our Design student wasn’t assigned an advisor until mid way into the semester, whereas an engineering friend had already met with their advisor and had all their classes worked out before mid-June.
Around when should we expect the online portal to indicate Design Review/Under Review? Not having any application status is nerve-wracking, since I have no idea whether my application has even been seen by the COD yet and it’s only a few weeks away from potential admissions review notification…
I was wondering the same thing. My daughter has stopped checking since all the site ever says is “You currently have no outstanding application missing items.”
We didn’t see any changes until right after Christmas -
My daughter is currently a sophomore at the COD, I remember when she got her interview letter cause it was 12/26 the day after Christmas. Hang in there I remember this nerve racking process. Good luck to everyone.
Does anyone happen to know what happens if an applicant simply can’t make it to the review day? I already know tnat there is one weekend toward the end of January that we will be unable to get my daughter to North Carolina from Virginia.
Are the invitations for the review mailed or in the online portal?
Are students notified if they are not advancing to that stage?
I just got in without review day by some miracle!! That means they must be decisioning, so I’d assume review day invitations will be extended very soon. Good luck to anyone else waiting on acceptance!
I just got notified I was accepted today, without a mention of a review. It was pretty surprising, and I didn’t really think it was legit but I guess it is
Wow, congrats. How were you notified?
Congrats. Which program?
I got an email saying my decision had been made and to check Wolfpaw!
