我觉得你应该问题不大,我也申的cs
Hi, guys. I just found this page. I am applying for transfer here and at UNC-Chapel Hill. I am a freshman at Emory University in Atlanta. I loved Emory when I toured it – absolutely beautiful campus, but I’ve come to realize that I don’t love the people here. That being said it is hard for me to ask my parents to pay $70k (and more) a year for me just “kind of liking it” Here are some stats (just to post like everyone else)
Current School: Emory University
From: North Carolina
Nationality/ personal: Hispanic, adopted, Jewish, severe ADD
Financial Aid: did NOT fill out FAFSA for 2019-2020
College GPA: 2.1(1st semester) 3.8 (2nd semester)
Applied Before?: Applied and accepted in Fall 2017 as a senior in high school
High School GPA: 4.4
ACT: 31
HS: National Honor Society, AP Scholar (gold), NSHSS, studied abroad in Spain, Headmaster’s Scholar, Alumni Council, Angelus Society (youngest in school history)
College Extra Curricular: University Wind Ensemble, University Orchestra, EIPAC Exec Board, Sigma Nu – officer, Emory Interpreters, Hillel.
Best of luck to everyone! I hope this month bring us all great news and good fortune!
Hi prospective transfers!
This past Fall (2018) I transferred to NC State, I see you all have a lot of questions and please let me know if I can answer them.
I transferred from Appalachian State University with 31 credit hours and a 3.7 GPA. I was involved in 3-4 on campus groups/activities. And I was previously accepted to NC State however I chose App on the first round.
Best of luck!
what major did you apply for & what classes did you take at App?
I’m thinking we will hear the decisions next Friday. I’ve been telling myself not to get my hopes up about it since I applied. Heres some of my stats.
Credits from community college: 51
Gpa:3.51
Main Classes taken: precalc, trig, intro to chem, chem 1, chem 2, Spanish 1, Spanish 2
Applied major: meteorology
4 semester hours of calculus is required to be considered competitive and j wont have that until this summer so I’m worried that hurts my chances alot
@hbrookew What major are you applying to?
Atmospheric science
Hi, I’m a freshman at Appalachian University and just finished my first semester. After my 2nd semester is done I aim to transfer to NCSU into sophomore year. (Fall 2019) Here are my details.
I applied already in High School, but got deferred, then waitlisted. This was when I applied as an engineering major (not anymore)
Demographics: Hispanic, male student. First generation to be born here but not first to go to college.
GPA: 3.54 (After one semester, should go higher or stay the same after 2nd semester.)
Major: English
SAT: 1270
College ECS: In film and writing club, (so I write), play multiple instruments (Was in a band in High School, and also write songs)
Transferable Credits: All of my first 15 credits from my first semester will transfer, and all the upcoming ones will transfer as well.
High School GPA: 4.3 /5 point scale
I think that’s all I need to mention, ask me if there is anything else I should put. I am curious how good my chances are.
Some things I’ve heard that is worth noting.
- The average GPA for a transfer student is 3.29 (with more credits though)
- The highest of any minority accepted of transfer students are Hispanics surprisingly.
- For a majority of majors, the recommended GPA is 3.0, with engineering having much higher recommended GPA (I am not one though) so I think my GPA is competitive.
Hope this is good
Ngl hoping my hispanic self helps alot in their decision, plus my good grades (3 A’s, 2 b’s
Please offer your thoughts!
Hello! I also currently go to ASU and am looking into transferring to NC State in the fall. In my opinion, I think you have a very good chance of getting in for the fall! I think everything is depending upon what major you are trying to transfer into at NCSU.
Is there any chance of decisions coming out before the 15th?
Anyone got their decision yet?
I haven’t! @WalfPaw1
UNC Chapel Hill release theirs today, so I feel like ours is probably a week from today or sometime this week maybe?
I looked at those thread from last year, they probably will release next monday
I see here that there are so many people looking to transfer from App and UNCC to NCSU - can anyone give me an example of why they are looking to transfer?
And good luck to all!
@mcastudent413 How was the transitioning to NCSU as a transfer?
To answer your question @ITBgirl …
If State and Chapel Hill are the best universities in the NC system, my perception of App, and UNCC is a tier below. All are great schools, and a degree from those universities can bring success, but not everyone who goes to the institution may not have the same intellect as someone who attends UNC or NCSU. If you look at the stats to enter UNC or Chapel Hill, both the test scores and GPA are higher than those of App and Clt. I would like to reiterate the fact that there are various different reasons why students attend different universities, but campus life, and peer intelligence may be important factors in transferring. In my experience at my university (it’s either App or UNCC-I don’t want to specify because I’m not bashing either school) I’ve had peers ask ignorant questions, felt as though campus life lagged, and generally feel like I’m on a different wavelength than SOME of my peers. In short, I would like to disclaim that my department administration is PHENOMENAL, all of my professors have been enthusiastic and helpful and I’ve never felt limited by the resources provided by the university. I just think that sometimes the stigma of the university is true in most instances (look up stereotypes of the students at each university and you’ll understand where I’m coming from). Hope that clarified information!! I can answer more questions if you have them!!
To me, it has nothing to do with the fact that I dislike App (though I do feel it isnt my crowd), but moreso the fact that NCSU is my dream school and I’ve always considered it my top choice, and so I’ve considered App a temp school. Though I do believe NCSU is a better school than App and I prefer the location of raleigh way more than the location of boone, UNCC is a good school though, and if you’re not in a Stem field, comparable to NCSU.
@ITBgirl Also, the majority of people I know here love App, I feel like the only transferring haha (I actually havent met anyone who is)
NCSU was always my first choice and I still somewhat view UNCC as a stepping-stone that can help me get into my dream college. Not necessarily the biggest fan of UNCC as of now but that can be attributed to me focusing more on my grades rather than trying to make new friends on campus. If NCSU ends up not being the school for me, I’m sure UNCC will still be a decent spot for me to finish undergrad as long as I put myself out there.
