NCSSM Chances / Advice?

Oh, I just looked it up and your right! Smart students can get really competitive and they’re so used to being #1 or around that area in their old school that ranks will just make it worse. This is what I’m assuming.

I’ve heard a lot of good things about NCSSM, but what the teacher in my school says is that “some NCSSM classes don’t give you credit.” I’m assuming she’s talking about college. There are rarely any classes in my school, almost everybody that graduated took the same classes. Like you said, NCSSM will give more options. Plus, having strict parents, it’ll be nice to have a little more freedom (:

Most of the classes at my high school don’t give college credit! And a few APs don’t either, it depends on which college, I guess. I know Princeton requires a 5 on the AP test for Calc if you want credit. My sister’s friend earned a ton of credits at science and math and went to UNC but unfortunately my sister’s school didn’t allow that. There aren’t that many classes at my school, either! I don’t feel like taking standard classes because I don’t want to lower my GPA but I’ve already taken the majority of the Honors electives. Good thing about NCSSM is that every class counts at least 5 quality points towards the weighted gpa if you get an A!

Oh, that’s good then! I heard that Duke, I’m sure some colleges as well, only take 2 AP credit classes.

My school forces us to take a bunch of regular classes like Office and Health Science classes which is a little annoying. Hopefully NCSSM won’t be the same.

My school just forces us to take the dumb history classes. Science and Math focuses on math and science but there are tons of other classes! I looked through their course catolog and it has a ton of interesting classes.

I’d have to look at that. I saw their list of clubs and they have some interesting ones!

Hey, I’m also from CD 6! Good luck to everyone, though! Ahh, your statistics are so awesome. Do you think when you apply they compare you to your peers?

Good luck to you, too! I’m sure your statistics are awesome, as well. (:
They probably (don’t quote me on this) compare you to other people applying from your district. For the SAT score, I’ve heard that they compare your score to the average score of the graduating seniors at your school.

Hello, current junior here! I just wanted to confirm that, yes, the school chooses a certain amount of people from each CD to keep it fair. That being said, you will be competing with those in your CD. And also, admissions will be comparing your SAT score with the average SAT score of the students in your school, so don’t stress too much on that…admissions will look for more than scores and grades.
