Sophomore Classes:
-English II
-Spanish III
-Civics
-Anatomy & Physiology
-AP Bio
-AP Stats
-AP Earth & Environment

The downside of these classes is that the AP don’t show up on my transcript, so I only have 2 classes from last semester on it. Also, it brought my GPA and class rank down becuase AP don’t show on transcrips until the end of the school year.

Oh… that sucks that they don’t show up on your transcript… I thought that they don’t look at class rank though…??
my classes are similar to yours…

Sophomore classes:
-Civics and Economics Honors
-Chemistry Honors
-Statistics AP
-Biology II Honors
-English II Honors
-Physics Honors
-Biology AP
-Pre-Calculus Honors

PS it is “doesn’t” not “don’t” … sorry, that just bothers me. :)

Lol. you’re right. Stuff like that irks me alot, especially when the sentence isn’t parallel or “you’re” is used wrong.

They look at class rank for the top 1% and although SAT isn’t suppose to be weighed heavily, most people that got in were above 2000 (mine isn’t though)
I’m kinda worried about the essay portion for discovery day. Math is no problem for me.

By the way, how can you take stats if you have to take precal before it? and same goes for AP bio?

At my school, you don’t have to have Pre-calculus to take statistics. If you have taken statistics or are taking statistics, you will see that you do not really use pre-calculus. Also, I took honors biology last year. What did you take in 9th grade?
I took:
Geometry Honors
Biology Honors
PE/Health
English I Honors
World History Honors
Latin I
Algebra II Honors
Biomedical Technology
What did you take freshman year? :)

English I
Spanish II
Precalc
PE/Health
World History
Human Body Intro
Chemistry
Biology

I took algebraI and geometry in middle school because it was offered.
By the end of this year, my GPA will be pretty high
Unweighted: 4.0 Weighted: 5.4

I hope that is the case… … I just cannot believe that in about 1.5 months, I will know if I got in… I have been wanting to go there since the 5th grade.

I know right! When I heard about it, they still gave out free rides. After reading about some of the experiences, I realized that the school isn’t as pleasant as it seems. Some were better off with the classes back home becuase they diddn’t offer, or wouldn’t allow them to take.

I just really want to get in. The people I know who are applying are mad geniuses. Good at everything. The ones I know who got in last year were not so great. SAT scores of 1500!! (at least 5 I know) Seems unfair sometimes.

Well, I don’t think that it is “unfair” in a way. As you know, the committee does not base you off of your SAT scores but also with classes you take and grades. There could be one of those slacking geniuses who got great scores on there SAT and didn’t challenge themselves. It could be that they thought that the person would not succeed there by seeing the classes they had taken… Although, I understand your point.

Maybe the selection committee saw something that stood out in their application. I know people that have taken courses where they would just focus on that course up to the AP level and not get in… probably because of the little variety of courses… all in all, this just shows how the selection committee looks more than whats on a test :O

Well, I’ve been told that if you get in, they base your classes on your performance on the admission test. That’s why some were unhappy becuase they had to take a lower class becuase they didn’t score as high. Also, try to get a really high score on the math because it increases your chances. All my friends who got in nearly got perfect on the math test, even though their SAT wasn’t so great.

Hmmm… that might be right… I know someone from last year who got in and scored low on the SAT but the person got a perfect score on the math… this makes me believe that the math test there is a significant reason for someone getting accepted or not.
