NCSSM Class of 2015 - Future Applicants

Has anyone (from the waitlist) gotten a phone call/email about becoming a finalist yet? I haven’t :(

waits desperately by the phone

We haven’t heard anything either :)

I haven’t gotten a call yet. But a girl at my school did…

Yeah I saw some people on Twitter posting about how they got in :(

My son got the call at 8:00! He’s in! Don’t give up hope. She said she has a lot of calls to get through, and I imagine calls will be going out all week.

In case anyone is interested, we’re in CD 5.

Congrats! You and your son must be so relieved!
I’m in CD 13, so I am guessing that if they are calling by district, mine will probably be the last one.
Hope the rest of us will hear good news as well! :)

I know CD 8 received a call last night. So I don’t think they are going by CD. Anyone who received a call, can you answer if they called the parent or the student? Also, has anyone received an email?

To those who have received a call, did they call you or your child? Also, has anyone missed the call and received an email? We have so many phone numbers I don’t know which one my son put down as a primary contact. We are on hyper alert so we are watching our phones but I fear as the summer progresses we may not be so attentive and I don’t want to miss the window.
Thanks.

A friend of mine told me she called up NCSSM and they said they made all the calls for the waitlist (so far) yesterday. So I guess your son/daughter and I are not in the initial waitlist-to-finalist bunch :/

They called my cell phone (I’m the parent). I know my son also listed his phone number, but they didn’t call that one. They did not send an email. I’ve heard from a previous year wait-lister that if they don’t talk to a live person, and don’t get a response to the voicemail, that they’ll send an email the next day. They make every effort to contact you once your name comes up. She told me we were one of the very few calls where she reached a live person on the phone. They gave us 48 hours to send them an email stating he had accepted. I also suggest that if you get the call, make sure the parent is CC’d on the acceptance email. My son sent it to the wrong NCSSM email address. If he hadn’t CC’d me, we’d never have known.

Best of luck to you guys!

Mom of a wait listed CD 4 student. I am not clear from Welcome Day if we were supposed to have access to myncssm.edu now or not? Anyone have access now?

TIA

I know the waiting list is split into two: male and female then it is further divided by districts. Are the people in the subcategories ranked?

I thought at welcome day that they said once they divided the waitlisted students by gender and district they choose who gets in rather arbitrarily.
Not sure though.

To add to Resa989 I have asked one of admission official how the wait-listed candidates ranked and she told me there is no ranking. They have taken 80 in wait-list, boy and girl split 50/50. My guess as finalist drop out from a CD they will pick another from Wait-list. My son did not get call yet. We are from CD 9.

Has anyone gotten in since 5/13?
Also, does NCSSM have another day where they notify a group of waitlists of their acceptance or will they contact people individually when someone drops out of their district?

We are wondering this as well! Any other wait list calls received? We are starting to make alternate plans just in case my son does not receive a call. It is so hard when you do not know where you are on the list or the chances of getting a call! We are in CD9.

They will contact people individually as space becomes available. 5/13 was there only mass calling day I guess. There are a lot of people on the waiting list this year, so I do think that it is wise that you are making alternate plans - I am trying to do the same!

Our child got a call in early June last year, offering a spot off of the waitlist. We know another that was called in mid July and one that was called the day school started.
I think it would be VERY wise to decide at what point you would still accept an offer. For instance, if you are called right before Labor Day, would you still attend? What about 1 week after your current high school starts for junior year?
As hard as it is, you have to lead a rather dual life while on the waitlist of getting all of your ducks in a row to return to your current school (course selection, summer sports workouts, summer reading, etc.) while still trying to keep tabs on NCSSM and preparing to go if called.

No call here either.

We are trying to make other plans, but unfortunately my daughter is waitlisted with 2 other options also so it just leaves next year up in the air.

Oh well-hopefully there will be space for all that were fortunate enough to make it this far!
