NCSSM Class of 2015 - Future Applicants

Ncssm.edu/apply and click log in as usual:)
Then click the status page

That doesn’t work for me. I think I need to use my focus log in because I am an online finalist, but it isn’t working. >.< I want to know

My son also appealed. He got into the online program, and tried to check his appeal notification on his Focus page, but login won’t work for him either. So I’m glad to hear we’re not alone

I sent an email about the problem. I’m hoping they let you guys know soon! I know the not knowing is frustrating.

Guys. http://online.ncssm.edu/2013-enrollment.I</a> used that link to reset my password with a grace login. Then I could get into focus to check my status. Good Luck :)

I think the URL for that link may be broken. It is telling me the page does not exist

For those who were unable to log in due to being an online finalist, do the following.

First go to my.ncssm.edu to log on. Once there, log on using the username and application password. it will tell you that the period for your grace password is up, and will prompt you to choose a new password. After creating a new password, you may log onto focus and check your appeal status as indicated in the email.

By the way, I am waitlisted.

https://my.ncssm.edu
Try this.

congrats @sillystring and xabsolutezerox

Supposedly only 81 out of about 300 got waitlisted due to appeals!

Good work sillystring and xabsolutezerox. There will be kids who decide not to attend NCSSM. Some will decide soon after welcome day, some during the summer, some not until it is actually time to show up. One thing you might want to do is decide if your answer will be ‘yes I will come’ up until the 11th hour. Meaning, if they call you the day school starts, or 1 week into the school year, will you go? Some kids make the decision that no matter when the call comes, if it comes, they will go. Others may decide that they will give it until a certain date and at that point if they are not in, remove there name from the waitlist and focus on getting ready to return to their home school.
In the end, you now have a true fighting chance to get in thanks to your hard work and obviously strong appeal. Good job!

The Welcome Day itinerary is up. Many of the sessions are “pre-registration.” Do the kids register for classes on Welcome Day?

As I understand it, we go through a mock version of it and have opportunities to ask about it, but we don’t actually sign up since we don’t know what we’ve tested out of/placed into, and that could change our choices. I heard from Juniors that we’ll actually sign up for courses in early summer.
Also, the mock version (which it appears as though we turn in) gives NCSSM a feel for what classes they need more periods of and more teachers for, etc.

I am waitlisted, too
Did anyone who appealed get moved to finalist?? I know someone who was waitlisted on April 8th and is still waitlisted :/

Where are you getting these numbers from?

I’m looking forward to seeing everyone on Welcome Day!

I’m looking forward to seeing you all on Welcome Day!

There’s so much to do this week with reviewing for Algebra 2 and Chemistry and my other school tests and preparing for the AP tests.

Everyone, good luck on your placement tests!

My son is on the waitlist. At the Welcome day II I have asked to one of admissions official how selection process works and what is the possibility of waitlised candidate to get in? She told me that last year they had 60 candidates on the waitlist they ended up taking all but 5. This year there are 80 candidates on the waitlist and all came through appeal process. This year more candidates declined than last year so they raised the waitlist to 80. Always boys and girls mix 50/50. The way they select a finalist from waitlist as a finalist declined from a particular DC they select another finalist from waitlist from same CD. Also she told me there is no ranking among waitlisted candidates. I will post once again if he made the finalist list. First selection will be notified on May 13 around 25 finalists from waitlist. Good luck all of waitlisted candidates.

Thank you so much! That information is truly helpful. I was surprised at Welcome Day that they didn’t address how many people get in via appeals, but I was too nervous to ask!

For those of you that are now waitlisted, have faith! Some of the brightest and most legit people here are from the waitlist. Of the class of 2013, the last two people to get into NCSSM off the waitlist were eventually accepted to MIT and Columbia. Don’t think it means you’re second-tier, and don’t give up hope.

Please post if you get the call from waitlist next week.
