<p>(This only applies to North Carolinians.) Has anyone gotten in? If so, what was your SAT score?</p>
<p>Mine was 710 math, 610 critical reading, and 590 writing when I was accepted in 2007. I do know there were other people on my class that made a 2400, so I’d say somewhere above 2100 is helpful. However, just because you score a 2400 on the SAT doesn’t mean you’re in. You still have to have a decent extracirricular record as well as good grades and a good essay. </p>
<p>My chem teacher while I was there explained the applicant review process:
Each part of your application is essentially given a point value, and if the total points your application receives is within the top 300 or so, you’re in. If it’s just outside of that, your either waitlisted or if you’re lucky, in. So yes, having better SAT scores helps, but it doesn’t secure your acceptance.</p>
