@dandelionz I haven’t heard anything. She had me resend my application info a couple days ago and I haven’t gotten a response.
Yeah me too. I just hope they tell us soon because the interviews are coming up pretty soon
Does anyone know exactly what they mean by bringing in a “physical portfolio”? Do they just wanted printed versions of our work or do they want us to bring the original pieces?
I think they want the original pieces. That’s what we are planning to bring.
@dandelionz you heard back? when/how?
@pewlter I got an email on jan 11 from design_undergraduate@ncsu.edu
Did you end up needing to bring originals? I’m having an interview at a later date
After experiencing the Architecture showcase, it seemed more like an information session on what you need to expect as incoming freshmen which I think confused many in a good way. It looked like there were roughly 40 kids there. They seemed to say that they already know there is a handful of applicants they are going to deny and they weren’t invited to the showcase, a handful who have already been accepted, and those who attended the showcase are right in the middle. After asking a series of questions about the application process, they filled us in on a small detail saying that most everyone who attended the showcase last year was accepted.
@pewlter Yup i did. I also emailed them earlier and they said they prefer originals but if its too fragile or big etc, then its ok to just have a picture of it with you
@dandelionz thanks! And good luck to you hope all went well
Is anyone able to say what happens if you don’t get in to for example Graphic Design as your first choice?? do they automatically place you in a second choice? My daughter is worried that she won’t get in the school at all. She was invited to the admissions review and participated. All went well with the interview. She at least would like to get in to the school still. She has 4.7 gpa, and 1290 sat. I hate we have to wait until the end of February Just wanted to see what you guys think??
@Wattsupdesign first congrats to your daughter for making it this far. Mine is a sophomore at the COD and loves it. From what I remember from the process is that you have to get past ncsu general admission before they even forward your application to the COD so I would say she has a great chance to be admitted to her second choice major. If she planned to try and transfer to COD she will essentially do the portfolio process again. Good luck!!!
@sjmsmom Thanks for your thoughts. We hate the waiting because all of her friends are currently getting their answers on admission. Also venting, …
Thank you @sjmsmom
@Wattsupdesign I know it’s a long process I remember the day my daughter got her acceptance email. It literally was the best day. It’s almost over just a little longer.
@Wattsupdesign & @sjms71 We went through the same angst. It is so hard! We just wanted to know if she got into State & others schools kept contacting us wanting to know a commitment.
If your child got invited to Admissions Review, they are in the University…Just a matter of time to find out where…
That’s what my daughter was thinking she heard one of the college leaders say the day of the review. We just were not sure that was true. Thanks for your input!
I’m kind of confused by the whole process. It seems we were told at the October open house that applications came to design First, then went back to admissions.
At the review, I thought someone said that their referrals had been sent back to admissions before Christmas.
I don’t understand how it may be the end of February before decisions are made.
Anyone have any idea when financial award packages go out?
@ncmom1971 If I remember correctly, our financial aid info was posted in late March to mid-April. It was making us nuts as we had other offers waiting. Maybe @ToddinRaleigh knows for sure since it was more recent for them?
Hi, what kind of questions do they ask on the interview? I’m gonna make it via Skype and I’m really nervous since I’m an international student and I’m not that fluent in English. Thanks.
