NCSU College of Design

kb, take the “official” tour and don’t let your D be “put off” by all the bricks. There’s not really a big green grassy quad surrounded by white columned buildings like many colleges have. Kids love it though. Raleigh is a fun city. Congrats on getting into College of Management. It’s very popular and not easy to get into. S1 has two friends who majored in accounting in the COM and have good jobs and are doing very well (graduated in '09).

Having family nearby would be a big plus too.

I’m curious if anyone is planning on attending the College of Design Studio Collective on Saturday. This might be a nice substitute for a accepted students visit which I was kind of surprised they did not have.

We attended an accepted students day for DD #2 school last weekend to help to solidify her 95% certainty that NCSU was her #1 choice (for almost the past month). Unfortunately, it actually pulled school #2 into a tie with #1. After a day of reflection, she’s swinging back towards NCSU again. This event might be the final deciding factor if we can make arrangements for this to work out.

SNLMom – I’m curious what your daughter decided!!! There seems to be an inclination for the kids to love most the last school they visit (or the most recent Admitted Students Day)…
From a parent of someone who was denied the School of Design at NCSU. I thought it would have been a fantastic opportunity (at a reasonable price for OOS)

SnLD has decided to enroll at NCSU. Yes, the price is reasonable for OOS, but really was not a deciding factor between her 2 choices. She did admit that she thinks the last school one visits seems to have an unfair advantage. So, if there is a parent preference in a close race between a few schools, strategic travel plans could play in your favor. LOL

She feels very good about her choosing NCSU (so do I) and is anxious for August to arrive. Is your daughter nearing a decision?

KbiD hasn’t made a decision yet! Umd or Penn state or NCSU – she may be leaning toward Maryland, but I’m not askin! She’s meeting with her counselor at 8a.m. In the morning to chat about her choices. It sure has been interesting.
