neasc accreditation

For those of you who've had questions about Olin and accreditation, you may be interested in this bit of news.

The New England Association of Schools and Colleges (NEASC) Commission on Institutions of Higher Education has just announced that Dr. Jon C. Strauss, President of Harvey Mudd College, has been chosen as the chair of the visiting team for initial accreditation of Olin College next spring. Their accreditation visit
is scheduled for April 9-12, 2006, and the NEASC Board is scheduled to
review the resulting recommendations in our case in the fall of 2006.

It seems to me that someone from Harvey Mudd would be a perfect match for Olin in the accreditation process. The colleges have many similarities.

As I remember harvey mudd worked with Olin as it was starting up. I was actually going there untill I got the call from olin pulling me off the wait list. And Olin also stole some amazing Profs from Mudd (Dr. Moody!).

My daughter has enjoyed Dr. Moody as a teacher. She's wondered if she might have liked Harvey Mudd, if he's representative of the school overall.

From what I got from my weekend there, he is. Plenty of amazing profs there.
Mudd, however has a bit more of a party atmosphere than i picked up at Olin. (the stories I can tell from a weekend...)
