Thank you!

Bump please.

Come on guys, please!

Korean from CA=very competitive pool at ivies. You will need a great app. UCs should be no problem.

^Agreed. Unfortunately, you don’t stand out to me very much as an Ivy applicant. But you’re in at the UCs and probably even Duke! Best of luck!

Hmm what would you say is a big problem on my app?

Yale SCEA tends to have very rigorous admissions standards–for the unhooked or those with out exceptional accomplishments, an acceptance is unlikely.

For the best chance at a top school, apply ED.

And, just a tip, the activities section on your Common App will look less cluttered if you eliminate trivial club memberships–that is, those not accompanied by leadership positions or related awards.

@Glassesarechic, yes I ranked them in order of importance on my Common app, so it neglects a few of my less time consuming clubs.

I don’t see a big problem, but you are in a hyper competitive pool with no stand out EC. I agree that applying ED to a school below HYPS would be a good strategy here.

I was just wondering, am I a bit too rounded? I’m pres of three clubs, captain of two teams, Senior class secratary. Would you say this is hurting me as in there are too many applicants like me, or that these are pretty good for me?

For HYPS, ECs need to go beyond the school level. And yes, there will be many times the number of Korean applicants from CA with stats similar to yours than these schools can accept.

You’re definitely strong enough for the UCs, but don’t forget an EC for one year with no official position means nothing to colleges. In your position, I’d go for Brown ED over Yale though.

Hmm, I dont exactly have any 1 year no official position things. I’m so so so spread out though, it’s just cause I’m in the moment of figuring my self out, and exploring every single opportunity given to me.

Thanks for the input guys, the only reason I didn’t consider ED for brown, is because of financial aid/ international issues.

And this club I just founded this year invisible children is collaborated with a non profit organization, so does this go above the school level?

And I just think sometimes CC overestimates the range of college applicants. Sure, all of the 10000 or so admitted to HYPSM are freaking amazing, we can’t expect every single one of them to be SIEMENS USIMO etc etc, 10 years of an EC that changed the world or something.
I know I’m weak on EC’s but I’m sure the greater percentage of those applicants are just extremely well rounded students

I love cookies

what a bumper

Just wanted to say good luck and nice title!!

I feel the others hit the nail in the head. Apart from HYP you are great canadite for your schools!

Anyone got any more chances? The harsher the chance, the more I’ll appreciate it!
