prepare for the fastest response to a chance thread ever.

ok sooooooo........

Harvard: i think you'll get it, you're valedictorian right now, just write something compelling for those essays.
Yale: harder, but you might get in. flip a coin. seriously
stanford: if you don't get it with a good essay, i've lost all faith in the card...damn you trent johnson...
Penn: wharton? then maybe. everywhere else, yes with a good essay.
Columbia: if you get harvard, you'll get this..i think..
Brown: in for sure.
Cal: In
UCLA: In. fight on lol
UCI: nice safety. i'm applying there, too.

i was joking
your resume could not be any better unless your dad was the president of the united states or unless your dad donated 10000000000 $ to the schools.
you've done the best you can, now its up to the crapshoot decisions at HYS.
of all the schools i think yale is hardest to get into. it also depends what you wanna major in and do in life when you're choosing your school. yale is more a poli sci school than H or S. H is more a govt and econ school (which often translates into Ibanking jobs the second after graduation cause its harvard duh). i think you should think what school is the best fit for me and which school suits me best among the top colleges. there's no difference between a Yale degree and a Harvard degree and a Stanford and Columbia and Penn. the difference is the 4 years you spend there, which should be spent at the place you really want to be at

Yale is the hardest to get into? I always thought Harvard.

I'm still very open as to what I want to major in, but I'm leaning towards a double major in economics and poli sci.

I've researched HYS a lot, and each school has something that really attracts me to them. Princeton on the other hand is just kinda bleh to me, lol.

of HYS, S is the worst generally speaking for econ and poli sci. Also you didn't mention it but UChicago has the #1 econ department in the world and a poli sci department in the top 5 in the world i believe. but maybe you're not one of those quirky crazy types.

Yeah, I know of UChicago's econ department. I'm just not sure if it's gonna be a right fit for me, but I'll probably still end up applying there. What do you think my chances are?

you're odds are either 100% or 0% and my mind is struggling to calculate the multivariable permutations which would lead be to understand the frequencies these two polar opposite realities appearing, given their mutually exclusive relationship towards each other

see, I think I'm gonna apply to UChicago and that's what a UChicago kid is like.
in all seriousness, as long as you write an intellectual and fascinating essay (essays are big at the U of C admissions office) then you should get in like 65-75% at least given that your grades are literally perfect

I actually have a friend at UChicago, so I'll see if he can convince me into believing it's the right school for me (in terms of social life, weather, etc.).

Cal, UCLA, and UPenn are probably a given (I only hesitate about UPenn)
Stanford=probable, but rejection is possible. I would say 75/25
Harvard=these people are insane. 50/50
Yale=ridiculously selective, and those that they select have very few commonalities. 50/50
Columbia=75/25
Brown=60/40 (Brown is weird like that)

Definitely check out UChicago as was mentioned earlier. Great econ department and with good essays they would accept you in a heartbeat.
UMichigan might be another good safety, if you need one.

I'm interested in the same majors at the same schools (even the possible bio/pre-med, asian parents major).

I honestly wish I had your stats. I got the 35 on the ACT, but my GPA is much lower, but I'm hoping to get in on the quirkiness aspect. Similar sports (I quit basketball after sophomore year for volleyball), similar clubs.

If you don't get into all the UCs, you might have to pull a Bakke and blame the board. You should get into what ever ED school you want. If I were you, I'd go ED to which ever Ivy you want into the most, and take your chances with the rest. (That is to say, don't apply ED to Harvard just because it's Harvard, and you think you'd be more likely to get in there ED. If you really want to go there, go ED and you've got a great shot.)

Also, you may think about applying to some merit based schools, because I'm fairly certain you could get a free ride somewhere.
