Need a letter of recommendation from a college instructor: does the graduate student TA count?

I’m applying to nursing schools. They require a letter from a “college level instructor.” Regardless of acing my classes, I don’t know who to ask because I took several online courses where I didn’t even talk to the professors (except for like two seconds on exam day) and the in-person class sizes were always 150-350 people so I didn’t get to know most of my professors. I’m afraid the professors I do know, from community college, won’t get back to me in time (the letter is due in a month). I took a small class a couple of quarters ago that was entirely taught by a grad student TA; I talked with the TA on a daily basis. Would that work?

It is part of a professor’s jobs to write these letters given a reasonable deadline, so you should try getting a professor to do it. Perhaps you could ask two of them. You would send them some paragraph descriptions of you as a student and make a list of bullet points of notable things you would like them to mention. Also be clear about where to send the letter. Then follow up a week later.
But yeah, if the class was taught entirely by a grad student than I would call him or her an instructor rather than a TA. That might be good enough.
