Alright well I applied mainly to UCI, Pitzer, and SDSU. I got accepted to both UCI and SDSU; however, at first I thought for sure that I should go to UCI because of the difference in the selection of undergrads that SDSU and UCI admit. But lately I have been pondering which school would be best suited for me. I am almost positive that I want to be become a local police officer, or some type of law enforcement agent, and SDSU offers a criminal justice program, while UCI only offers a criminology, law, and society program, which I have a hard time believing would give me hands-on training, in becoming a cop. Therefore, how much better a school is UCI then SDSU, in job placement, academics, etc. If two kids graduated, one from UCI and the other from SDSU, and both applied to let's say LAPD, who do you think they will hire if all other variables, such as GPA, recommendations, are the same. And lastly does anyone know how proficient the criminal justice program is at SDSU? Thanks for all your time and help.

Those are all great questions; why not contact the career centers at each school and see if they have any stats on hiring & recruiting for their criminal justice/criminology grads? The other question to research: Will one degree vs. the other help/hurt your long range prospects? In other words, if you’d like to be chief of police or work for the FBI would one degree be better.

I am not so interested in long range prospects, as I want hands-on experience and training. And thanks for the advice vinceh, I will talk to the career centers of each school. However, does anyone else have any input or knowledge that you can share with me.

Can someone share their opinion, please. I could drastically use someone’s input.
