need advice for self-study AP Euro

My son has not started yet, but he would like to self -study for the AP Euro exam. Is it possible to score a 5 just using prep books? If not, which text would you recommend? Any great sites to guide his studying?

Thanks for any advice you can give.

Advice please?

I took the course last year…and I ended up getting a 3 on the exam.
I found it pretty difficult, especially remembering specific time periods.
I wouldn’t suggest self studying it unless you’re a history buff.

^I also wouldn’t advice self studying. However, the textbook we used in class that was supplemented with the Princeton Review prep book got me a 5. I think that if you read the Princeton Review multiple times, you could get a pretty good score.

However, what the prep book didn’t teach me was how to connect across time periods very well. It also didn’t help as much as the class did with DBQs and FRQs. I really believe that Euro isn’t a class very conducive to self studying (even though many have been successful doing it).

Like @26antara said, it just depends if you are history buff or not…

I got a four I just bought the Barron’s book. I studied on my bus rides about an hour a day for 3 months. It is definitely feasable as long as time is invested on it.
