Need based financial aid for out of state student

I received my acceptance letter today. I'm excited but I'm really worried because I'm out of state and my EFC is 0. I hoped I would receive a scholarship but my acceptance letter did not say anything about merit scholarships. So, I would like to know how good is U Pitt's need based aid? I really thought I'd get merit aid but that doesn't look its possible right now. I

sorry for the typo.

I think Pitt is pretty tight with merit money. Sit tight and see what they offer you for need based. It might be fine.

Thanks for the advice.

I didn't get my scholarship letter until I month, I think, after I got accepted. So you might still get something.

EDIT: But, now that I think about it, I applied really early, in September, so that was probably before they were making any merit scholarship decisions. So in summary: I don't know, I can't help you, good luck!

Stringtheory: Were you accepted to the main campus?

yes, I was accepted to the main campus.

Merit award letters are sent out after acceptances. My D applied in August, accepted in October, and received merit $ in December. Also, the stats (M&V) seem to be better than 1350 for scholarships. Review past posts of accepted students/scholarship recipients, and this will give you some idea ...You just never know...Also, be sure to submit the federal financial aid form. Check UPitt's website for more info on need-based aid, or call them...Best of luck to you!

Thanks for all the advice. I'll call them.

I got a 10,000 per year scholarship!! :):):)

That's great! Congrats, stringtheory!

I'm willing to bet, with a merit award of 10k and an EFC of 0, you're going for free. Enjoy!
