We went on a tour Friday, OOS from NY, and Clemson is really beautiful. It is probably my son's top choice now.

He is a biomedical engineering freshman, although he might change majors to biochemistry, but will be a science major.

For housing, would it be better to be in RISE, science learning community in shoeboxes, or Clemson House, which is suite style?

Clemson House is beautiful, but far away from everything. Shoeboxes are in the middle of everything, did not see inside shoeboxes but I assume they are typical, dorms with hallway bathrooms.

I know it is a matter of opinion, just want to hear other's opinions, especially Pierre if he is reading this.
Thanks!

To be honest, unless you applied early on in the admissions process, you probably aren’t going to get Clemson House since everyone is pretty much going to apply for it and housing priority is based on the day you applied to Clemson. There are some positives of the RISE program but you can easily get help and tutoring if you aren’t in the RISE program as well. There are also many engineering students so it’s not hard to find people taking core first year classes with you. That being said, if your son wants to do the RISE program, apply for it! If you applied in late November or December, you probably aren’t going to get Clemson House so apply for RISE if that’s your second choice after Clemson House.

I’m from Boston so I know that travel is really difficult because Clemson is in such a rural place and there are no airports directly next to it. Let me know if you have any questions about traveling from the Northeast!
