Need help deciding on best school program for accounting major.

I live in Santa Barbara and want to major in accounting and stay in Santa Barbara if possible. I would like suggestions on college or university programs that would give me a meaningful degree.
. I have completed IGETC and most of UCSB’s pre- major requirements except for Econ 10A and a writing class. I have been accepted to UCSB for Fall 2011 but I see several problems and need advice. First off, I really like accounting but don’t like the economics classes I’ve previously taken. Since UCSB has a Bachelor of Arts (BA) degree in Economics and Accounting it looks like I will have to be taking a lot of economics classes. Another problem is most of the classes appear full. I’m also very interested in taking lots of tax classes and I think UCSB only has one. Are there any colleges that offer an accounting degree that require less economics classes?

Another question is what type of degree is recommended? I know UCSB has an accounting certificate offered through their extension program. Does anyone recommend Golden Gate College? It appears that they have online classes which would be nice so I don’t have to move.
