Need Help Deciding!

I was accepted to viterbi for astronautical engineering in the spring. I was also accepted to GW's engineering school, BU for biology and others that I am not rly considering. I am so happy I got into viterbi but is it worth spring admit? Any suggestions?

that’s what this is for! (:

Yeah that’s a great post but I am looking for opinions between the schools.

well i’ll be the first to give you an opinion on which school to choose: viterbi is getting more and more competitive as the years go on, and it’s climbing the charts as a top engineering school in the nation. my aunt is an asst. professor, and from what i’ve heard from her, the program’s becoming more top notch and prestigious, and acceptance rates are dropping constantly. now, it may not seem as worth it due to the spring admission deal, but i think after a couple years once you graduate, it’ll be more than worth it! there’s my two cents(:

I am just worried about graduating in 4 years since I will be missing the first semester.

take GE classes at a community college then transfer the credits your earn to USC. that way, you won’t be behind. if anything, you might be ahead!

Bumping for more input!

RedSoxFan,
There is the possibility of being bumped up to a fall admit. Also, SC as a whole is ranked far higher than George Washington Univ. SC is ranked #26 and GWU is not ranked in the top 50. SC has small classes, 1/9 teacher student ratio. Viterbi’s facilities are nearly brand new with up to date labs, new computers and 30 research centers.

SC is one of only four universities in the U.S. with two National Science Foundation funded Engineering Research Centers. Viterbi also has CREATE, the first university center of excellence funded by the U.S. Dept. of Homeland Security.

The Dept. of Energy has recently granted $12.5 million to Viterbi to establish a new Energy Frontier Research Center.

The admit rate for Viterbi is 12.5%. You are one of the chosen. In a year, if you are not bumped up, nobody will know. At the semester everyone changes classes anyway.

Spring admits have their own EXplore session in December. Just think, you will see flowers blooming, green lawns and students on skateboards in that month.

Some prominent alumni are: Andrew Viterbi, Ming Hsieh, Mark Stevens, John Mork, Ken Klein, Sonny Astani, David Chonette, Daniel Epstein and Wanda Austin. Most of those alumni were in a position to give millions to SC.

Georgia your post made me feel so much better, thank you!

I must confess to a personal interest. One of my Trojan brothers graduated with a degree in civil engineering from SC. When he took the rigorous exam to become a registered engineer he passed it the first time. He felt SC had prepared him for a career as well as for that examination. He had an engineering position immediately after graduation.

Georgia, my son is trying to decide between USC and another school for Computer Engineering. He loved the campus and the vibe. How is the CE dept ranking? We visited last week and attended the info session but did not meet any faculty. The tour was led by a civil engineer student.
