I went to a big state school for 1.5 years right out of high school.

My grades were ok but the last semester i failed 3 classes....i'm not in school this semester, but want to go back to a smaller local school (smaller state school not a CC) next semester.

What do I have to do? I want to do the FASFA right now, but I don't know if I can go ahead and put down what school I want to go to.

Do I have to go through the whole application process again with this other school? Do all my grades transfer?

Johnnytc, I am not the most knowledgable poster but felt someone should answer your plea. What I think you should do is contact an admissions counselor at the school you want to attend. They will be able to tell you what they require for a transfer student and what classes if any from your old school will transfer as well. FAFSA is free so go ahead and put any school you are considering down. Whichever school you do apply to will be able to access the information.
I applaud you simply for continuing on with your education. So many kids in your situation give up and just get a low paying job to get by. Obviously you were not in the right place and/or right frame of mind to be successful at your previous school so hopefully you have worked through any issues and approach this next opportunity with new perspective. Good Luck.
