I will be graduating from the Art Institute this quarter (March 2011) with an associates degree in fashion design. While going to this school i told myself that I wanted to get a business degree too. My problem is that i would be going to a new school with its own new problem (more financial aid/loans) and i have NO clue how to go about it. I want to start going to my local community college right after i graduate then transfer to a university because of these financial problems, but have no idea how to go about it. Should i sign up for Fasfa this year? Wouldnt they send the aid to the school im going to now? Should i apply to the community college now? Help please im lost ;)
AI is nationally accredited so i dont know how many credits would transfer to a university, so sad!

When you file the FAFSA, you indicate where you want the results sent. You don’t have to list your current institution.

If your Art Institute has a transfer advisor who helps students find 4-year universities where they can finish their programs, that advisor should be able to help you identify places that will accept some (if not all) of your credits. You also can contact the universities that are interesting to you, and ask them specifically if they will accept any of your credits. Some might.

Good luck!
