Need Help For A Friend

Hey,

So basically my friend got into Cornell. Amazing right? Not so as they did not offer him an aid. The only way he can go now is if he can get a scholarship.

He is like number 1 in my school and everything so it should be a problem getting one. He is from my school only.

Where can he get one from? Where can he apply for one?

Thanks
Crazysah

crazysah tell your friend to look for local scholarships, i know they wont cover all the money at Cornell, but a little helps

your friend should be aware that finding $200k+ in scholarship money will be very very difficult, and he should seriously look at other options

Cornell almost NEVER gives aid =)

What is the maximum scholarship he can get?

What are his options?

Which local scholarships can he look for?

he should look for local scholarship his school, community, city offers.

Our school doesn’t provide scholarship and neither does his community. Does New Delhi offer scholarship?

oh, that hard. sorry. maybe then he will need to take out loans.

Don’t you know about the Ratan Tata Cornell scholarship for undergraduates?!?

He’s given $25M to Cornell to fund Indian undergraduate students.

I <3 Ratan Tata.

http://admissions.cornell.edu/downloads/TATAScholarship.pdf

Wow. I found that as well… Thanks! Will look into that and tell him about it!

Anyone know how one can apply for that scholarship?

Anyone? Come on?

on the tata link given on page 1 of this thread if you open the link and read through it gives you the website to apply in red.

It just leads to the regular Fin Aid website. Does that mean that one has to send the fin aid form again and stating they want to apply for the scholarship?

Tell him to contact the fin aid office and ask them about the scholarship.

Yeah. He has done that now…

TATA scholarship is only for INDIAN students seeking admission in Undergraduate course (preferably Engineering).

He is an Indian and he has been admitted to Cornell University. Last year someone got the Tata Scholarship and went to the College of Arts and Sciences. That is where he is going…

I’m an Indian accepted at Cornell (CAS) too. But I haven’t received my financial aid details yet. The financial aid department said they would let me know shortly.
So are you sure your friend was clearly denied financial aid?

Yes that’s what they told him. They said they cna’t give any financial aid.
