I was trying to complete my profile on gatewaytoprepschools, and it asks for "Level of involvement (such as first chair, junior varsity, travel team)" and "Positions held: awards, honors, leadership". What would I put in them?

Anyone? I know it is a dumb question but I don’t want to put a dumb answer on the app.

I think this part of the application is real messed up. They need to clean it up. Answered randomly last year and still got into HADES. Just do like:

Newspaper Editor 2 years
Hockey, forward 5 years
Math Team, Captain 2 years
Student Government, Vice President 1 year
Eden Prairie Hot Dog Eating Contest State Champion

What Invent says sounds about right. Think of the first as a level/specific activity, the second any special recognition. For example:

track, junior varsity 200 m. hurdles, 2nd place at 2010 section meet
band, high school flute ensemble, 2011 state honor band
speech, impromptu speaking, 2011 state meet participant

And yeah, those years of involvement go in there somewhere too–isn’t there a separate place for those?

Also, don’t be afraid to put in the awards that you won, even if you think they’re stupid! (This is one of those things I should’ve, but didn’t do.) For example, even if it’s an award like, “Participates in Class”, put it in! Awards are NOT given out for no reason, and it does give a clearer picture of the applicant.

For example:
Baseball, Varsity, AAU Team

Captain, school team. AAU Player of the Year (dunno if that actually exists).

So, it would look like…

Baseball
Varsity, AAU Team
Captain, school team. AAU Player of the Year

Ok I’ll put something along those lines. Thanks guys.
