special awards and achievements...hmm

did you guys put the year when you filled that part out on the formal application form?

I just said "honor role" cause thats all ive got!!
I'm sure year would be great if it was within 2 years but when you get into 5th and 6th grade awards then you should just say the award.

I thought that most applications (well, the schools in my list anyway) will specifically tell you which grade level they'd want the awards to be from. Usually, they want those from the past three years.

Anyways, I put the year for some, but if there's limited space, I don't bother. I'm not sure about this one either. Anyone know anything about this?

When they say scholastic awards and distinctions, does it have to be something really major (nationals, internationals, etc.) or can it just be quiz bees, essay writing competitions, special recognition for being the best in math, etc. from school? Or is this considered insignificant and probably a real waste of space?

crickett - hopefully, you put honor roll not honor role ;)

We put the grade down for everything.

We also indicated the grade level. He is applying for 9th grade (is in 8th grade this year) and we only included awards and recognition from middle school.

creative- :D hahaha!! of course!!
the fact i was writing on this forum at 4:30 AM must have contributed to my already poor spelling.

I had a lot of awards and stuff like math things and student of the month and year and things like that. I didn't put the year on all of them. I put the grade on some of them.

ughh
how early did you guys go for the awards?
in 2002 and 2004 i had some pretty big ones that id like to mention but im thinking that i shouldnt put the year because..well thats a loong time ago haha
if i just put recent ones from last year, i add up to 3 awards and you always wanna impress =)

I just put 7 and 8 grade but that's mostly because I had a couple in 6 grade and a few in elementary school. I might of put the one in 6 grade but i cannot really remember.

the only awards I got were for being president of a couple of clubs (given to all presidents) and distinctions in art and music.

I don't plan on mentioning the distinctions because they will probably wonder why I didn't get them in other classes. the answer is that 95 average gets you the distinction not 94, not even 94.75

another thing
did you guys put titles for your essays?
right now im just leaving it blank and putting the topic that i picked at the top of the page...would a title be expected by the admissions?
