Need HELP - General Education for USC

<p>I want to transfer to USC from community college from outside California. Could everyone help me to evaluate these courses? Thanks so much! If possible, please do suggest me classes (just the major description) that I should take in Community College prior to transferring for the Category 1,2,3,5.</p>

General-Inorganic Chemistry I
First course of three quarters of Gen. Chem. for science and engineering majors. Includes scientific measurement, atomic structure, nomenclature, stoichiometry, aqueous solutions and reactions, gas laws and theory, basic thermodynamics and nuclear chem. Course includes lecture and seminar</p>

<p>I don’t think anyone on this board can honestly answer your question because USC has very specific courses which transfer. Since you are out of state, I suggest that you call the USC articulation agreement office and ask them if the courses you took will likely transfer and if they do, will these courses satisfy general ed. core requirements. Sometimes course numbers change, credit hours are not exactly the same, content changes, etc. so it is not so easy to always determine if your courses are EQUIVALENT courses. I suggest you apply as a transfer student and see how USC evaluates your transcript so that you will then know if your courses transfer.</p>

<p>I looked at your post again. Are you on the quarter system? Chem 171, for example, is the first of 3 quarters…USC is on the semester system. You might need 2 quarters to equal 1 semester, not sure how USC will respond if your courses are on the quarter system. Also, you don’t say if you have semester hours and how many hours are these courses. If they are 3 quarter hours each, you have a significant question to find out if these courses are EQUIVALENT to semester courses. Again, the USC articulation agreement office will have a better idea of transferability pending acceptance to USC.</p>
