-Will attend program at NASA, Caltech, or Calpoly this summer.

Ok…
Now I’m applying to the following schools:
-California Institute of Technology (Early Decision)
-Rice University (Early Action)
-Boston Univeristy
-UC Berkley
-UC Davis
-UC San Diego
-UC Los Angeles
-Cal Poly SLO
-MIT

Ok…how do I get into these schools??? I really really really want to get into CALTECH…how do I get in?? I also want to get into Rice if not Caltech…
For what schools should I do ED/EA???

Thanks for responses!!!!

u already made a thread like this.

DUH i already made a thread like this in "what are my chances"
but in this room everybody is more MIT/Caltech geared so id getter better responses here

...

we already told u that cal tech is a super reach for u and mit is a reach. what else do u want?

What Do I Have To Do To Improve My Chances??????

Thats Wat I Am Asking!!!!!!!

What Do I Have To Do To Improve My Chances??????

Thats Wat I Am Asking!!!!!!!

first of all you need to BREATHE

WOW a very good job man.. you want to do more __??? calm down this is more than enough for all your schools maybe except caltech and MIT.

Be careful about essays they are extremely important. Try to show your other abilities. try to show determination and imagination. try to show your personal qualities !!

Work hard for the SATIIs !!! and try to improve your other scores as well as your GPA.

improve calculus !!

OHHh You want to improve your chances, ??? try to learn any kind of programming language. It certainly will help !

I know quite a few students who were accepted to MIT without knowing any programming languages. thebio-engineer is not offering you helpful advice, I'm sorry to say. Your chances are improved by you having activities and interests you are devoted to, and being able to demonstrate and communicate those passions in your life through your application essays and recommendations. As Marilee Jones says, "There is only one way into MIT: the hard way."

what the--SEVEN AP's???

You might want quality (i.e. better scores) than quantity (i.e. way too many classes).

Junior here as well.

Dude... one thing you should know is that around this time of year, full priority is given to seniors actually applying. Posting this in multiple spots on the forums will not help.

I also seriously doubt you can study that many AP's by yourself. And I'm saying this taking into account past CC'ers amazing accomplishments.

yea you need to clarify, BALIstik916, whether all those APs are self-study (which is insane, ive taken 8 so far but only two were self-study), or just psychology

ok i am relaxed now...first of all u guys need to understand i cannot improve calculus I's grade to anything more than a C
however think about this
what is more important:
A's in Calculus II, Calculus III, Linear Algebra, Differential Equations or:
taking programming classes, computer science classes, self study Comp Science exams???

and to clarify i took/and or are taking those AP classes i am only planning to self study calc ab, bc, and psychology. calc ab adn bc will not really be that much self study because im taking calculus I, II, and III.

i promise you guys i will put all of myself into the SAT aiming for 800's on SAT I Math and SAT II Math and Physics (very difficult but can be achieved through strenuous studying + a few practice books :) !!!!) I will get awesome recs from my ap physics teacher which i believe i am performing quite well in AP physics B, he is my science olympiad instructor for 2 years, and he really likes me, and I will ask my Engineering Teacher for 4 years and I will ask Professor Cahill from UC Davis WITH WHOM I AM DOING RESEARCH CURRENTLY! Interview-I am very good under pressure....ok guys i g2g to sleep now lol i have my first SAT Reasoning Test ever tomorrow morning!!!

There's really no point taking Calc AB and BC both. Calc BC has a subscore for AB anyways, so itd be like taking the same test twice, except once with a couple different topics in it. And you don't get twice the test credit for any ap awards by taking both.

You CAN'T take AB and BC...CB won't let you

that too lol

The only restriction I see on the College Board website is that you are not allowed to take both AB and BC Calc in the same year, so he could take the AB test this year and BC next year if he wanted to. (Or vice versa.)

The Calc AB subscore is not used in determining AP Scholar designations, so you do in fact get credit from College Board for taking both AB and BC for that purpose anyway. Some colleges (including MIT) only grant placement credit for the Calc BC exam, though, so if you could take only one and do well, BC would be the one.

ok i ve decided to take BC exam this year.
So is it essential to learn a programming language?
Becuase I am already overloading community college/AP courses this year but I want a few on my transcript when I send it to MIT.
Also I plan on attenting a summer program and am torn between the NASA SHARP Program (I think that's what its called) or taking classes at UCSD or mayb even CALTECH (do they offer programming classes over the summer, maybe I can get in like 2-3 classes over there over summer?)

-Thanks guys!

It is not essential to learn a programming language. "thebio-engineer" is blowing smoke in the wind, and has been exposed on other threads as a troll.
