Wondering if I have a chance

let me start by explaining a little about me... I live in Texas and I'm a minority. the only place anyone in my family has ever gone is UT Austin(they always complain about how hard it is not sure if its actually hard or not). Both my chem and bio teachers think I really should try to go somewhere better (they literally approached me and asked me where I was thinking about collage and when I told them probably UT they were o.O why what a waste) thats why I wanted to no what you guys thought my chances are

I want to go into chemistry maybe minor in biology not sure I enjoy both but I favor chem more. I'm currently a sophomore.

this is my report card end of the year avg for freshman and so far sophomore year(avg):

French III H (90)

English H(usually range between 90-95 both 9th and 10th)

GeometryH(100)

Biology H(100)

Chem H(100)

World Hist AP (95ish)

Algebra II H(100)

Comp Sci (don't no if it matters but (97)

Thats basically the classes I took and the grades I got. I feel as though I'm at a disadvantage because one my school doesn't let me take any AP classes other than world hist till senior year and many of the Science credits (ex physics) aren't offered till senior year.

Junior year plan:

English AP

Pre Cal H

US Hist AP

Physics H

Biology AP

Band

Senior Year

Chemistry AP

English AP

Gov./Eco. AP

Calc. BC AP

Physics AP (not sure what the difference between the two is yet)

Statistics AP

Looking around the board I realized that alot of people that come to the board are way ahead of me when it comes to classes. I'm guessing its because of their schools becasue they don't allow a junior to take Calc. BC in junior year. Will this cause me to be at a disadvantage. Should I take some SAT II's without finishing the course in order to make my application be more competitive with the other applicants or would have only 2 SAT II's one in Biology and one in Math I be enough.

Extra cirr. actv. (not sure how much this matters)

Band (Marching band really restricts me)

Student council

Debate

DI

Interact

Well I think thats everything. I would greatly appreciate it if someone could tell me truthfully how I stack up against other applicants cuz I want to know if I have a fighting chance or am I just wanting my time even thinking I could get accepted. Thank You very much :)

srry if my grammer/spelling isn't perfect it's pretty late...:)

Oh yea forgot to add that I've never made a B and although i don't; no for certain I'm pretty sure I'm at least in the top 10 people at my school

you're not really behind in classes... plus your senior classes will make up for it. i would probably self study calc bc and take the ap test for it junior year. and of course you have a chance, as long as you apply. you never know what will happen. the personal aspect of your application usually make your decision anyways. have fun with your future interview and write well and creatively for your essays (do as many as possible, haha).

as a sophomore right now though, you shouldn't be thinking too much of college. sure it's important but right now, you should be putting most of your energy into working hard, and play even harder. ^^

Your classes look more than fine. The SAT Math IIC only requires precalc/Trig, you can do fine on it without Calc.

Extracurriculars are more important than classes (by this I mean you need to take a challenging course load, but succeed outside of the classroom as well). Think about it, everybody that applies to MIT has good grades.
You look like you have a good opportunity if you continue to work hard.

yea I wish I could do more but from July - Nov band literally runs my life. with all the practices from 3-7:30 every day than Fri. & sat is 6 hours each I'm having alot of trouble just keeping my grades up. I was wondering would it be better for me to join a couple more clubs or gain higher positions in the clubs I'm in now. :) thanks for the help...
oh yea I was wondering what the essays are about...?

Concentrate time in a few clubs and try to gain leadership positions. What I have heard is that schools want a well-rounded class, but individuals that specialize in certain areas. Depth is more important than bredth.
