Im currently attending a community college for the time being and have a question about transferring...

The CC that im at right now has a Government/Law major for students who intend on transferring out into the Law field, but heres the thing. I have noticed that a lot of people who have dreams of becoming a lawyer or working in the law field also majors in Criminal Justice in which my school also offers. So the question im trying to ask here is, what major should of focus on? I asked an advisor on what he thought and he recommended that i choose the Government/Law option...

If its any help, heres some classes that are in the Government/Law major:

Political Science
Western Civ
English Comm
Philosophy
Oral Communication
Psychology
etc
etc..

What would any of you recommended??

P.S. I dont know if this is the right forum, so i might of posted this in more than 1 forum.

there is no such thing as a "pre law" major and anything that resembles it is a joke. it doesnt matter what you study.. just pick a subject that you enjoy and stick with it. don't be fooled into thinking that because you want to go to law school you have to get your bachelors in something related to it.

Some majors that most Law School students majored as undergrad:

1.) Political Science
2.) Legal Studies (only a few schools offer this major)
3.) Economics
4.) Sociology
5.) Psychology
7.) Communications
8.) English

*note: the above list is randomly ordered.

What I'm trying to tell you is, there is no specific major intended for Law School. Law is such a broad category. You can even major in biology and go to law school to study laws concerning environment and all that good stuff.
It really depends on which aspect of Law you want to concentrate. There are criminal laws, corporate laws, real estate laws, and numerous others.

But no matter what it is, you shouldn't worry about what to major in.
If you are planning on going to Medical School, then you SHOULD worry about what you should major in. But graduate schools like Business school and Law school, your major wont really matter.

Yes, but if you REALLY intend on going into law school, I will suggest you take Political Science as your major. It will expose you to the political and judicial systems of this country, thereby giving you a headway in the law field. It might even make it easier for you in the future.
