Hi, I am new member to the CollegeConfidential community. I have joined because I am in need of advice concerning my extra curricular activities. I am currently a sophomore at an extremely competitive private high school in NC. I am aiming for U of Chicago, but if I ever want to get there I need to have at least some interesting EC's. I refuse to do EC's like working at a shelter, cleaning up parks etc... due to the fact that everyone does them and I think they would look rather bland on an application (am I wrong?). I am currently a member of Model UN, Yearbook senior editor and the founder of two clubs. I am an avid photographer and would like to do some EC with photography (maybe teaching elementary students the art of photography.). I really need help with EC's. Any suggestions?

I forgot to put that I help in organizing a stamp show in a local senior center. l also do work at a gaming store (RPG’s not video games) I go to.

EDIT: Another thing I forgot to put in the first post is that I also have a very strong passion for philosophy and metaphysics.

Get involved with your town’s art community and see if you can enter some juried photography shows, also teach younger kids photography like you said! Maybe also try to photograph something commercially, this is what I have done. If you have any questions regarding this, feel free to PM me.
