So I have no ECs. At all. None. I can't go anywhere after school this year (in fact, every year of school up to now) because I don't have the means of transportation to volunteer and stay after school for clubs and the such.

Next year I can do so. I plan on volunteering, maybe starting a club and joining a couple of clubs for the rest of high school, competing in competitions (if there are any available), finding an internship, getting a job, and that's it I guess.

I don't know anything else I can do to shape my ECs. Help, recommendations, advice?
As of now, I'm just a "hardcore" gamer...lol

What grade are you in?

Join math club because you…like math.

Don’t any of the clubs at your school meet during lunch? How are you getting home now, and what’s changing next year?
Don’t just join ECs for the sake of having ECs.

I was thinking the same thing

@HobbitTon I’m a sophomore.

@collegeluva101 & dfree124: lol. That doesn’t even exist here sadly. My school has 5 clubs that I know of. The administration decided to get rid of most clubs this year.

Nope. They got rid of clubs, and there are no clubs that I know of that meet during lunch (that I’m interested in). All after school.

I get home by riding a bus. What changes next year: I can drive. Do I need to elaborate on this?

No, no, I’m actually dedicated to the ECs I listed. I’m not joining just because it “looks good”. The reason why I plan to do those ECs is because I’m interested in them – I’d also like to help people out, instead of playing video games. I do help people online in video games though xD.

You should…CREATE math club. Then you get to do something you like and be able to say that you created it.

Agreed (again). That would show commitment, leadership, and an interest in math. Go for it.

I’ll bring that up with the math chair. There was a “Math Help” club last year, but that’s nothing exhilarating. The Math Club I’m considering is for AMC or math competitions and the such.

Do you guys have any other suggestions for ECs? I’m talented in anything video game related so maybe that’ll help. I also have a fascination for the sciences (mainly Physics, Chem).

I don’t know what activites to pursue…

Do whatever clubs you like. You a Sophmore?

Start with something small and make it big. That’s what’s most important. I’m particularly in agreement with the math team idea; math team can be as small or as big as you want it, but regardless it would a club of interest not only to you, but I’m sure at least a couple of others. Take the initative, and good luck!
